the cafe pontalba is located in one of the historic pontalba buildings on jackson square. this inexpensive restaurant is a good place to have lunch in the french quarter. they offer local cajun and american fare. the decor of the restaurant is nothing special but a window table is a great place to people watch.
Window seats to see the avenue in front of the Cabildo, St Louis Cathedral, and Jackson park. Good site to people watch.
Favorite Dish: Blackened shrimp, with jambalaya and green beans. Enough spice to get your attention, but not permanently damage. My girl had the pecan encrusted catfish, also tasty. 'Mud pie' for dessert, which was a fudge and pecan concoction. Prices were very reasonable for the area.
