    Commander's Palace: A must-do brunch spot

by travelingbunny Updated Jul 1, 2005
    Jazz Brunch

Set in an old mansion in the midst of the gorgeous garden district, Commander’s Palace is truly a NOLA institution. We went for their Sunday jazz brunch, and it really felt like we had stepped back in time. It’s the kind of place where local uptown families have probably been coming for generations, the men in seersucker suits, and the ladies in pearls. Although the food was quite good, it was the ambience, and the room-traveling jazz quartet that were the real stars for me.

Favorite Dish: The Creole bread Pudding Souffle is truly transcendent. My foolish boyfriend made the mistake of ordering plain chocolate ice cream for his dessert and I had to fend him off the entire time!

Excellent service in a formal setting, and my huge fried crab was unbelievable! We had brunch here, and it was a nice experience~top-notch food.
Don't go dressed like you spent the night on Bourbon Street.
