    Pierre Maspero: Former Slave Exchange

by jadedmuse Updated Aug 7, 2004

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Original Pierre Maspero's Restaurant building is dated circa 1795 and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Of the three, I would recommend breakfast (if only because there are too many other amazing places for the other more important meals). What is cool about this place is that it used to be a slave exchange, although you won't really find much written about it to this effect. I can't recall if there's even a sign on the outside wall, but it's worth a look inside -see that top floor? Used to be where the slave auctioning took place.

Masparo's has the best Muffalata's intown. It is located in an old slave auction house, just dont look into the kitchen the kitchen staff looks a little scary.
