Riverwalk: Riverwalk Marketplace
This is one of the most attractive urban shopping malls that I've seen. It survived Katrina, and is now reopened. Each floor is packed with shops and restaurants.
What to buy: My two favorite items are local music and condiments--things hard to find elsewhere. You should try the old French Market first, and then come here. Between the two, they should have any distinctive local merchandise that you'd want.
What to pay: Prices are about average.

Riverwalk: Indoors and Air Conditioned
At the south end of the New Orleans business district, and just a block or two from the French Quarter, sits a cluster of huge hotels that service many of the larger conventions held in the city. This area stands in contrast with the more elegant architecture found in the Quarter or the Garden District. All the more a good reason to get out of your room or break away from that long business meeting to explore the charms this great city has to offer.
The Riverwalk shopping mall offers just about what you would expect at any other mall. The food court does offer seating with a nice view of the river and the whole place is kept at a refreshingly chilly temperature making it a nice place to get out of the sun for a while.
Riverwalk: Riverwalk Mall
The Riverwalk Mall is an upscale shopping center located next to La Plaza de España near the Aquarium. The entire mall is built on a pier over the Mississippi. This allows for some nice views from their food court which has an outdoor dining area overlooking the River.
What to buy: This mall has most of the same stores as just about any mall in America: Victoria's Secret, American Eagle, Banana Republic, etc. But it would be the right place to go if you want to do some shopping or if you're looking to get out of the heat or the rain for a bit.

Riverwalk: Air conditioned mall
Indoor air conditioned mall to escape from the hot and humid summers of the city. Good for the morning mall walkers. Walkway follows the river for the candid outdoor shot.
What to buy: Stop by the Cafe Du Monde around 8 am for cafe au lait and beignets while beating the crowds at the Decatur Street location. Also check out the different shops there and the food courts with a new awlins twist.
What to pay: Various
Riverwalk: The Riverwalk
The Riverwalk is a large shopping mall located on the banks of the Mississippi River. There are stores, shops and restaurants. After walking through the shops you can sit on the decks outside of the mall and watch the riverboats pass by. Not bad for a day of shopping.
Riverwalk: If it rains....
It's an indoor shopping center on different levels, it is located near some larger hotels and right next to the french quarter. It has about 120 shops where you can get a tast of New Orleans but also the usual brandstores.
What to buy: The Riverwalk has apparel, gift stores, sportshops, eyeware, restaurants and more.

There are 140 shops here to choose from. lots of local stores plus national ones like Sharper Image, Abercrombie & Fitch and Baby Gap. If you are looking for something uniquely Louisianan, you are sure to find something unusual here.
Open Monday-Saturday 10am - 9pm and Sunday 11am – 7pm. Restaurants, bars and cafes may open early and close late.
Discovery Channel store: Electronic gadgets
The store of Discovery Channel has all sort of new and modern gadgets.
Nice place for children to look at some toys of the future or for the adults who like to feel like children.
What to buy: The massage chair was looking good, or the remote control hoovercraft.......
Bon Fete --- Food Court at the Riverwalk Mall: A great place to take a break and people watch.
After a Great day's worth of shopping at the Riverwalk Mall there were plenty of choices to choose from when it was time to grab a bite to eat.
There were familiar fast food stops like Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits and Steak Escape, chinese from Panda Express as well as many other nationalities represented here. And as a bonus for those who wish to be distracted from their sore feet, there were beer and daiquiris galore.
There were plenty of seating areas within the food court as well as outside on the walkway.
What to buy: Whatever your heart's (and stomaches) desire!
Jackson Brewery/Riverwalk: Boardwalk Bargain??
I had a hard time deciding whether to put this tip in the Shopping, Tourist Trap, or Warning category. The Riverwalk mall is a great place to see the Mississippi River and has all types of places to eat along with all of the Gap's and Banana Republic-type stores you could ask for. Just one small problem... the price. This is definitely the most expensive mall in town, just as you would expect from its prime tourist locale. So, if you have the dough, feel free to go. Otherwise, there are other malls where you can drop your cash and get more for your money. So, my advice is to definitely to go and stroll around, because the location is perfectly situated next to the Quarter, Jackson Market, seawall, IMAX, and Aquarium of the Americas. But, save your hard earned money for tourist purchases elsewhere.
Riverwalk: Great deals!!!
This is a mall. It is on the river and offers great views. They have standard stores as well as local art.
What to pay: I found everything very reasonable.
Riverwalk: Coffee with beignets
The Original French Market Coffee Stand at the Riverwalk mall serves some great coffee. Make sure you have some space left for the beignets. The deepfried cakes with sugar topping are the best.
