    jax brewery

the historic jax brewery building was built in 1891 and was designed by architect dietrich einsiedel. for decades this was the main brewery for new orleans local jax beer. today the jax brewery is a collection of shops and restaurants. the jax brewery building is also home to the jax beer museum. the jax brewery is an interesting place to visit in the french quarter.

    AKA JAX Brewery.
But dont let the name fool you, its actually a shopping mall. I thought it was an actual brewery because of the signs that advertised alcohol but it turns out that in the 1980's or so they turned this place into a mall. We didnt need to shop so we left.

Jacksons Brewery is over 100 years old and a landmark of New Orleans but ceased to be a brewhouse a long time ago. In 1891 it was the larges independent brewery in the south and the 10th larges single plant brewery in the country. Today the building is a complex of shops, restaurants and entertainment facilities. There are 4 floors of stores as well as breathtaking views of the River and the French Quarter.
