I go there whenever in town. Locals gather to DRINK, Louisiana style. Not tourist style with zydeco or folks dressed up like cajuns.
Pool, darts, Abita beer on tap and a generally friendly crowd...
Sign boasts "home of the neon lizard." I've never had one, but I'm sure it packs a wallop!

Central Station is not the only gay bar in Shreveport and it is not boarded up as previously described, its just really old. It was built in 1909 as the main train station for the Shreveport area. Its 2 floors and have 3 bar areas. When you first walk in there a country bar. And this is the side that is open for most days of the week. On Friday and Saturday the entire club is open. On the south side you have the dance club. This is probily th only place in Shreveport/Bossier that is a truce, House/Dance club. Then you venture upstairs from the dance side and it is a continuation of the dance bar, but more of a video bar. Then continue through this bar and you enter the "Show Room" This room is fully remolded in a jazz contempory style with a very nice atmosphere and serving areas. Every Friday at 12 AM you can see "Grandma Porky" and her show as she has permormed for over 30 yrs. Central Station is located at 1025 Marshall St, Shreveport, LA 71101. Call (318) 222-2216 for more info.
The next bar is the Korner Lounge located around the corner from Central at 800 Louisiana Ave, Shreveport, LA 71101. This cozy jazz/metro bar is one of the oldest gay bars in the state, rivaling some in New Orleans (going back to the 1950's). The Korner was completely remodeled a few years ago mixing jazz with contemporary art. Call (318) 222-9796 for more.
The last gay bar in Shreveport is a womans bar. Never Never Land at 1920 Market St. Shreveport, LA 71101 A local hot spot for Karaoke and friendly atmosphere. Frequent events for the Lesbian community. Call (318) 678-0700 for more info.

For an update on The Korner Lounge scene, the Bar in under new ownership as of September 7, 2006. The new owners are making huge improvements to an already successful bar. New artwork is in place, along with music videos, and new hours are Mon-Fri 2pm-2am, Saturday & Sunday opening time is 12 noon. Saturday, College Sports on the video screen in the afternoon, with Sunday having Pro Sports. Jazz/Metro doesn't quite describe the bar anymore. What we have is a great alternative bar with a very mixed crowd and great atmosphere, a very friendly place to meet and greet. The Bar also has Video Poker along with Wireless Internet.

The Riverfront has been completely overhauled! What was once a pretty lively stage in the early 90's lost it's luster over the years. However, the City has recently come into contract and has rennovated the area underneath the Texas Street Bridge.
Lot's to do within walking ditance - casino's, clubs, bars, restaurants, etc.
Dress Code: In Shreveport anything goes. You will mostly see casual attire - but some places offer a chance to snazzy up without feeling out of place.

James Burton's Rock'n'Roll Cafe
James Burton played with Elvis, I think. We actually met him the night we were there and he played several songs.
