McAlister's Famous Sweet Tea by ATXtraveler McAlister's is famous around the country for having some of the best sweet tea. Although I prefer my tea without sugar added, I will admit, that the unsweetened tea is just as good. I also have enjoyed every single one of the sandwiches I have been served there! Leave a Comment

by vigi The finest greasy spoon you can find from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. This restaurant has also been featured in Southern Living Magazine for the best pies anywhere. Strawn's Eat Shop has been serving hamburgers, fried chicken, and fresh ice-box strawberry pies since 1944. Today this family-owned diner continues to please its customers with a second location, Strawn's Eat Shop Too. Good food, reasonable price, and comfortable sittings (nothing fancy though). I went there for breakfast and it was almost full, good business. Leave a Comment Theme: Breakfast

by vigi All the ingredients for burrito, taco and salad building are spread out like a punctured pinata. Fixings include marinated, grilled meat such as anco adobo Steak, chipotle mojo chicken and achiote pork barbacoa. Flaky shells for salad are an option, but you can "go naked" and just have salad without the shell. Choose from saut?ed sweet or hot peppers; refried, vegetarian black or pinto beans; cilantro-lime rice pilaf; roasted potatoes; jack cheese; sour cream and salsa, and watch as the staff magically crams all that food into tortilla, taco and burrito shells. A little reminder, the portion here is HUGH! Even bigger than normal American size. You may consider ordering one dish to share between 2 persons, don't waste food. by ATXtraveler This place is great... where else can two people eat for $5.00 and be full? I challenge anyone to beat this price! How is it done? Well, of course you get chips and salsa for free when you get to the restaurant, and everyone knows that you get water for free.... then order the chimichanga ala carte... for $2.50 each. Finish that off with free ice cream and sopapillas! Leave a Comment

by vigi This Mexican restaurant is very artsy and eclectic. It offers made to order salads, burritos and more. Cool Beans Mexican restaurant is set among décor that jokingly matches the old Tijuana strip of the tacky and tasteless. Day-Glo colors, pop art and retro tunes belted out by Bono and other luminaries of the big-hair decade recall the fabulous ’80s. Cool Beans offers whole-wheat tortillas, brown rice, vegetarian black beans and sugar-free lemonade. Other available ingredients include lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, grilled vegetables, corn and a cilantro-ranch dressing with enough kick to triumph over all the other flavors in your creative Mexican melange. Great food at very reasonable prices. Leave a Comment Theme: MexicanAddress: 855 Pierremont, Suite 135, ShreveportPhone: (318) 868-5100Directions: in Towne Oak Square

oourtesy of copelands.net by ATXtraveler Although most people in Northern Louisiana do not fit the typical mold of Zydeco playing Ragin' Cajuns... Copelands of New Orleans has moved up the charts as a great place to grab a little Cajun soul in the heart of Northern Louisiana. My fiance and my parents all enjoyed our dinner out at Copelands, however I really can only comment on my meal. I had the warm spinach salad and the gumbo. Both were excellent and are highly recommended! Also try the red beans and rice! Leave a Comment

by ATXtraveler When I decided to ask my fiance to marry me, I did not realize quite how often it would have meant we had to go to the ice cream stores... so if you need any tips on where to find this cool treat, please email me! In Shreveport, I would recommend going to Maggie Moo's... where you can have ice cream your way... by picking a base ice cream and then adding mix-ins like strawberries, heath bar, peanuts, etc to make your cup extra special! Mantle at Cool Beans Shreveport by ATXtraveler Sarah and I went as a large group to Cool Beans this evening, and enjoyed a build your own burrito experience. We were old pros at this type of food because of places like Chipotle and Freebirds, but this place was as good as it gets in Shreveport. The food was not as well prepared as some other burrito places, and I did not think it was nearly as good... but this is a fun place to enjoy a meal with friends. You get to add your own ingredients, so the only person to blame is yourself for a bad meal! Also... I would highly recommend drinking a coke or iced tea there, as Shreveport water does not taste very good! Don't Let the Looks Fool Ya' by jholley534 Well the food is excellant. I'm not really a food critic so you're just gonna have to take my word on that. There's almost always a line out the door, so get there early. If you're a drinker, the margarita's are awesome. They play spanish music and are extremley friendly there. Definately worth the wait. By far my favorite restaurant.

Shreveport's Superior Steakhouse, Louisiana by jumpingnorman, 1 more photos This is one of the best places to eat in Shreveport, if not the best. Apparently there was a hollywood movie that was recently filmed right in the restaurant. Movies such as The Guardian were filmed in Shreveport. The owner I hear is independently wealthy but still spends time at the kitchen. For appetizers, we had the cooked quail and also the fried oysters. The mahi-mahi was very tasty, and the rib steak was huge. The ambiance of the steakhouse is very nice with several vintage paintings around. The bathroom even has very nice paintings.
