by IronLenz As a general rule, I HATE malls. I also hate new construction. But I really like the Louisiana Boardwalk! This is the most progressive thing I have seen in Louisiana. A strip of shops on the Bossier side of the river with a trolley (think Main street in Memphis). Shop til you drop at all of the popular stores found across the country. Good view of the river, downtown, and casinos. The Louisiana Boardwalk would be a lot better if it had something to do other than eat or spend money...like a skate park or volleyball court. It might have helped that it was a beautiful night when I visited, but nonetheless worth visiting if staying in S'port. Address: 390 Plaza Lp, Bossier City, LADirections: Riverfront on the Bossier side.

by sjjordan2002 In 1984, a group of brave and loyal North Louisianans decided to take a stand. This group was tired of hearing: “You people in Shreveport are more like Texans than anything else. You’re hardly a part of Louisiana, at all.” So this daring group gathered in the Downtown Shreveport Unlimited office to organize their ranks and pay homage to the most cherished of Louisiana institutions – the crawfish boil! And this group wanted to make their crawfish boil the granddaddy of them all. So Mudbug Madness was born. What began in 1984 as a two-day street festival in downtown Shreveport is now one of Louisiana’s largest and most popular Cajun festivals, featuring renown Cajun, Zydeco, Blues and Jazz artists, mouth-watering Cajun cuisine, raucous contests, and fun for all ages. Now a four-day festival held each Memorial Day weekend, Mudbug Madness is nationally recognized as one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events, drawing as many as 56,000 people in one day. Mudbug Madness created renewed interest in Louisiana’s rich cultural heritage and the event’s original organizers are proud to have brought a little bit of south Louisiana fun north to Shreveport. Through the years, festival organizers remain dedicated to the original premise of Mudbug Madness: Provide a downtown venue where everybody has a good time celebrating Louisiana’s rich Cajun heritage. But Mudbug Madness is more than just a big crawfish boil. Supporters take their commitment to downtown Shreveport very seriously and the festival has been successful in producing healthy revenues, a portion of which are reinvested in other downtown endeavors. Downtown Shreveport Unlimited, the presenting organization, provides sponsorship dollars for other downtown projects and events including: “Let the Good Times Roll,” “Jazz & Gumbo Festival,” “Cinco de Mayo,” “Rockets Over the Red” and the Shreveport Police Mounted Patrol Unit. Katie & Kellie by saraheg77 Sci-port is a fun thing to do for both kids and adults! I took my two cousins for a fun-filled day. Sci-port has lots of fun hands-on learning games and things. There is also a cool IMAX theater, but we didn't go to that, as it almost doubles the price and we wanted to spend our time at the exhibits. There are the main things that stay in the exhibits all the time, and then there are daily demonstrations and shows and things. One while we were there was about static electricity and how it can make your hair stand up. A couple of the permanent things are an archway you have to build with blocks, a big table with a domino train thing that we finally got to work and a cool seat that you can use air to pump you up off the ground. The kids had a lot of fun and so did I! It was well worth the $7 for them and $8.50 for me. Hours are 10 to 5 on week days, 10 to 6 on Saturday and 1 to 6 on Sunday.
