    If you are interested in coming to Shreveport and checking out the history, you will most likely fly into the small Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV).

    This is definitely a small town airport, and you will pay a higher price to fly into Shreveport as compared to New Orleans, or DFW... but it would save you a couple hours drive.

    By Air : Shreveport has two airports, Downtown Airport (1500 Airport Drive) and the Shreveport Regional Airport (5103 Hollywood Ave). The regional airport is a small hub served by seven airlines. There are also six car rental agencies.

    By Train : Amtrak serves many cities in Louisiana and offers both short and long distance travel. Some trains have food service and there are also sleeper cars.

    By Boat : There are many cruises you can do down the Red River and Cross Bayou or on Cross Lake and Caddo Lake.

    By Bus : This is the public transit system for Shreveport and Bossier City.

    At A-1 you can chose from riding on a trolley, mini-bus or limousine to anywhere in the area. The trolley is pretty cool.

    The best way to get around Shreveport is definately by car. If you don't have one, rent one because I wouldn't recommend taking the city buses. Shreveport is also spread out quite a bit so a car is about the only way to go. If your just casino hopping though...you can take casino shuttles to each of the properties. If your downtown, however, you can walk everywhere in the riverfront area during the day and it's fairly safe with plenty of police. But like anywhere...be careful at night.

    Shreveport Downtown Airport serves Shreveport and Bossier Parish and is owned by Shreveport Arpt Authority. The airport has more than one runway. The longest is a paved runway extending 4493 feet. The facility is at an elevation of 179 feet at a distance of about 3 miles from Shreveport.
    It is an extremely small airport and I really have no idea if the public can even fly in here, or rather small private planes. I've only been to this airport for a hanger party and to go bungee jumping. Try the website if you need info.

    Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV) is the Federal Aviation Administration's Louisiana Airport of the Year for both 1999 and 1996. It's not a large airport by far, however, it will take you to several main cities to transfer to where your going.

    The airport is designated as a hub served by seven airlines.
