Ray's Bull Pen Restaurant and Lounge: Southern Louisiana Cooking at it's best
Ray's is family owned and operated. There menu features a large variety of dishes in a conformable relaxed atmosphere. The menu included aged Midwestern beef steaks, lobster, southern classics, prime rib, Creole favorites, a variety of salads with freshly made dressings and much much more. The drinks are generous and the service is good. The dinning is casual with nice touches such as linen covered tables. My favorite place to eat when in the New Orleans area.
Favorite Dish: Trout Kevin, Char-grilled fish fillet served with a mushroom, lemon cream sauce. You have to taste it.

There are several good...
There are several good restaurants in Slidell, Doug's on Robert Road, South Side Cafe on Pontchartrain Dr. where I cooked, and Phil's Marina Cafe on the Lake in Eden Isles. A new all you can eat Chinese Place on Old Spanish Trail is the best buffet in the area. The picture at left is one view from Phil's Marina Cafe, a great place to bring a boat too.
Vera's: Dine with the locals...
The very first night we rolled into town, we were tired and hungry and basically stopped at the first place we came across. Only about a mile from the place we stayed was a little local restraunt right on the water, Vera's. It was great, the laid back atmosphere was just what we were looking for, and the waitresses were so freindly, offering us recommendations with a southern twang. Plus, we got to try DIXIE beer for the first time! Their crawfish bisque was excellent and very rich!!! We loved the place so much we stopped by again before we left.
Meals range between $8-25, or you can share a pound of crawfish for a few bucks.
Definately a place to take the family or just a few friends,
Favorite Dish: crawfish bisque
