Bubble Mountains by kazander After you've gorged yourself on yummy popovers and jam, waddle over to the gift shop in the Jordan Pond House. A two level shop that has all kinds of goodies
Here you can buy all the things needed to recreate your Jordan Pond House experience, well your lawn may not be quite as picturesque, you'll just have to use your imagination. The delicious strawberry jam as well as the popover mix and pans to cook it in are for sale. They also have the usual hats, sweatshirts, magnets ect...for anyone you need to buy a little something for back home Leave a Comment

Bar Harbor at Night by kazander For anything more than tiny souvenier shops, head into the town of Bar Harbor, where you will find , well, larger souvenier shops...as well as a bunch of specialty boutiques, a camera store, pharmacy's ect... It's really tourist oriented, but whether that's a plus or a minus for you, it's still worth a trip in.
there is a really cute shop that sells wooden crafts, called In the Woods, check it out. For items that have Bar Harbor, or Acadia emblazoned on them go over to Moose Tracks, they were having amazing sales when I went. You could get a T-shirt you saw down the road for $15, here for $6. Both shops are along Main Street Leave a Comment Theme: GiftsAddress: The Town of Bar HarborDirections: Along Route 3

Bar Harbor at sunset by richiecdisc Bar Harbor has all the touristy shops that I hate but lots of people love, otherwise, how could so many survive here!? Anyway, as touristy as the town is, it's still a quaint place if you catch it when it's not too crowded. Try early morning or late afternoon, mid-week and not in the height of summer.
I am not one for trinkets but I found some great beers and later some pizza. ;>
Beer are around 4 bucks a pop and pizza is around 2 for a slice. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Bar Harbor is the main town on Mount Desert Island, on which Acadia National Park is located.

Bar Harbor. Maine by goodfish This is sort of a general tip as we're not huge shoppers on vacation. Our purchases on this trip were limited to wearables from the park, an ornament for the Christmas tree and some edibles to share with our officemates. Bar Harbor offerings range from very expensive to just a few dollars, and from really tacky t-shirts and poorly-made souveniers to finely-crafted pottery, jewelry and woodworks. If looking for the best items to take home, go with local flavor: blueberry preserves or pancake mixes, canned lobster or crab dips, local microbrews, ceramics, watercolors, etc. It's always good to support the NPS with a purchase at one of the park stores (one at Jordan Pond House, and another in downtown Bar Harbor) - maps, postcards, t-shirts, books, bookmarks, ornaments, etc. Whatever your budget and interest, you'll find the just the right memento of your trip. Note: see my warning/danger about getting some of this stuff home

Best gift for the kids! by goodfish I had to make special mention of this book as it was read to me when I was little and has been a favorite of millions of small people since 1948. It was written by award-winning children's author, Robert McCloskey, who summered for many years on Scott Island, Maine (the setting for the book) with his family. Great story about a very small girl, a very young bear and their mothers on a day of blueberry picking. If your favorite young people don't already own it, it's the perfect gift to bring home for their libraries. Mr. McCloskey's most well-known work was "Make Way for Ducklings" and he passed away in 2003 on Deer Isle, Maine.
