Insider Tips:
1. Bring a light folding chair to take to each venue...sunglasses,sunscreen and hat not bad idea either if it's toasty.
2. Try the "Sugar on Snow" at the maple syrup house (unless you are diabetic in which case you will instantly coma.)
3. Pick up a free program.
4. Bring a picnic lunch in a small backpack. (Last year food lines tended to be a bit long.)

They are the oldest community orchestra in the United States providing continuous service, and have been at it for 106 seasons.
The founder, visionary music teacher Ms. Abbie Garland, was born in 1852 and died at the age of 90 in 1942.
The Symphony currently has 65 members of which most live within the state of Maine.
Season runs October thru April.

Visited the Cole Land Transportation Museum and was amazed. Quite the collection of snowplows and an entire locomotive under one roof. I also enjoyed the line up of old through new Cole Express trucks, from a Ford Model T to their own "Tank-Van". Outside was a covered bridge and World War II and Vietnam memorials.

If you enjoy the nightlife with a more adult theme then check out Diva's Gentleman's Club in Bangor. This strip club is small with some really great performers that are real - no wake body parts there. It was quite refreshing to the run of the mill clubs in and around Boston.

This is a restored Greek Revival residence of a lumber barron. It is opened on a very limited schedule and since we did not plan ahead we were not able to tour it. This house was designed by Richard Upjohn (1802-1878).

This Greek Revival house was designed by Richard Upjohn (1802-1878). It now houses the Bangor Historical Society and Civil War Museum. It is opened Tues. - Fri. and unfortunately we visited on a Monday. I am sure it would be worth the time to visit during its operating hours.

Bass Park is adjacent to the Chamber of Commerce and is a good place to start a city tour. They have much information to make your stay in Bangor pleasant. The 31-foot-high, 1.5 ton statue of Paul Bunyan is also worth a stop ... he is just beside the Chamber of Commerce.

The legendary Paul Bunyan is reputed to be from this area. In his honor, the good people of Bangor have a massive tribute to him right in front of Bangor Auditorium. He was a gift to the city on it's 125th anniversary in 1959. He stands 31 feet high and weighs 3,700 pounds. Axe in hand, he smiles down at traffic passing by on it's way into downtown Bangor
