HOYT'S COTTAGES: Warning Do not Stay Here

HOYT'S COTTAGES: Warning Do not Stay Here, Cape Neddick

traveloften3 Says:  Although we only stayed here for one night - that was enough. The family owners are very rude and unattentive. The cottages are poorly maintained and very small. My sister unfortunately stayed here for 3 nights and since we had to check out at 10 am, we left some luggage in...

Hoyt's Cottages: Stay away

Hoyt's Cottages: Stay away, Cape Neddick

jseletze Says:  We booked 3 nights here due to the proximity to York and the low cost. The person who checked us in was unfriendly and subsequently quite rude, and in general the staff was inattentive. The cabin was poorly maintained, with damp carpet, several windows that did not open or...

This restaurant was wonderful. The menu offers steak, chicken, seafood, lobster dinners...something to make everyone happy. It was delicious and the waitstaff was very friendly. And I loved the giant fieldstone fireplaces! Located near York Beach, and Ogunquit so it's easy to get to.

Favorite Dish: One and Half Pound Lobster Dinner, baked and stuffed with scallops, shrimp, lobster & fresh herbs was out of this world!

Favorite thing: We were searching for a place to eat. A guy in a car ahead of us suddenly stopped his car and ran out into the road. At first I thought he hit someone, but soon noticed that he was saving a turtle from being hit. Anyone who holds up traffic for a turtle is my kind of person! I LOVE TURTLES!! I have two tortoises of my own at home and I would be so sad to see a turtle killed by a car. The turrtle ran off into the woods, and we decided to pull over and see if we could find him. We searched, but the turtle was nowhere to be found. Just as we had given up, I spotted him on the Cape Neddick Country Club's golf course. We ran onto the golf course to get a picture, luckily nobody was hitting balls our way!

Fondest memory: The turtle escapes to a pond on the golf course.
