Desert of Maine
So in the mood for an off the path adventure? I would suggest to see the desert of maine. It was formed when a glacier receded (a long time ago). The sand is actually glacier silt, slighlty finer then your normal beach sand. The " Desert" it set in the middle of a wooded forest, and the admission included a ride in a trolly pulled by a Jeep through the desert. The ride takes about 30 min total. After you finish the ride you are free to walk among the desert and soak up the rays and photo's

LL Bean's headquarters is a must see. It has everything that you find in the Catalogues. The store was very interesting. I definitely spent some money here. There are also many other outlets in Freeport that you can visit as well. Here is the view from Route 1.
