A trolley service connects most campgrounds to the beach so for only $1 per person, you can forget about driving through the busy streets of Old Orchard Beach and paying for parking. When booking a campground, just make sure to ask if that service is offered. Not only is it convenient, but it makes for a really fun ride!

We took the train from Boston's North Station to Old Orchard Beach. What a great deal. $41 roundtrip and it takes just over 2 hours. The Beach is a walking town, so this is a really good way to get there.

Getting to Old Orchard Beach is fairly easy. It is right off of the Maine Turnpike which is
interstate 95. Traffic can be very heavy on weekends so make sure you leave early.
Saturday morning can be especially busy wih long backups at the New Hampshire tolls.
You can also get there by train now. Amtrack leaves from Boston, Ma 4 times a day and
goes to Portland, Me. with a stop in Old Orchard

OOB is a small town and you should be able to walk just about anywhere. Our hotel was 3/4 mile from the downtown area and an easy walk. Besides, parking is way too expensive.
