    51 Wharf

    by RobertD40 Written Apr 29, 2013

Favorite thing: Go see the Only dance club in the old port 51 Wharf...

Fondest memory: The Old Port had so much to do. the shops were new and fun. the food in the area was amazing. but the one thing i was amazed about was this club in the coble stone district. 51 Wharf was much bigger then you would think from the out side. There different rooms with two D.J's Go Go dancers and they had this martini lounge called Forti-Fem.

    Contrast mediums...Portland Public Pier, Maine

Favorite thing: While waiting for the ferry at the Casco Bay Ferry Lines, on Commercial St. I got a chance to walk the area and explore the Public Pier right next to the Ferry Lines.

It was very visual and nice and cool with a breeze plowing off the water. It was a beastly hot day.....so enjoyed the relief.

The modern sculptures were interesting as they were a contrast from the Whale Wall and

This photo shows the contrast of the different mediums. Taken from the Public Pier. It was an OPTICAL ILLUSION.

Fondest memory: Portland is a small city that has it all, from the great working waterfront, Old Port, shops, restaurants, museums, wonderful New England charm and historic envirement, great old architecture, good old hotels, the Ferry Lines......and the island life just a hop, skip, and jump away.

    I love everything about Portland.

    The city changes at night

    Me in Portland

Favorite thing: Portland is so quiet by day and totally busy at night, especially the Old Port. This part of the town is definitely worth of seeing. There are so many places where you can have great time. Bars, pubs, clubs- ya, if you are in Portland the Old Port is the best place to go . And if do not have good times do not blame it on the town, think may be there’s something wrong with you;))

Favorite thing: You'll probably find a number of tips suggesting that you spend time hanging around Old Port. And here's another! Yes, it really is a great place to spend a few hours just walking around, visiting the endless boutiques and galleries, grab a bite to eat at one of the numerous restaurants, or take a stroll along the waterfront.
It's often busy here, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. You'll hear music pouring out of many a bar or club in the area. Many shops remain open late to cater to the evening strollers.

    Boutiques, bookstores,...

    by Pamela_Peace Written Sep 2, 2002

Favorite thing: Boutiques, bookstores, galleries, coffee houses, pubs and restaurants are today housed in renovated 19th century brick and granite buildings along the tree-lined streets of Old Port. This thriving retail district was once a bawdy, rough and tumble section of town. The cobblestone streets lead to the working waterfront where ferries ply the water, fishing boats unload their catch of the day, cruise ships dock and sailboats set to the wind.

Favorite thing: While your here in Portland, I totally recommend just walking the streets of the Old Port. You will find oodles of Dining experiences, plenty of fine Irish Pubs, tons of shopping and a good deal of quality coffee houses.

Fondest memory: The memories just keep coming, the longer I live here the more I fall in love with it. So much to do, so many places to see, and the people are just plain friendly!!!

Favorite thing: The streets down by the Old Port district are very charming and even have a bit of a European feel. We parked down here and walked around checking out some of the buildings, the shops, some interesting artistic looking people and of course the waterfront port. It's a great area to explore on foot.

The Old Port was fun but the only place i found to get a upscale night life was 51 Wharf. The line was long but once we got in it was amazing... three totally different rooms. two D.J's that made you feel like you were in a club New York.
