Southeast of Rockland there is Owl's Head State Park. Great photo ops and a pathway to visit a lighthouse are to be found. You can walk easily to this place and even lay out a blanket and picnic on a sunny day. The lighthouse is very picturesque.. see photos. They have information provided on the history of the lighthouse in front.
If you have children, this might be a good choice to get them having some activity and seeing something of a historical nature.
If you continue on the road you will come to Miller's Lobster Company in Spruce Head--recommended and tipped on VT by me.

Off Route One just a minute away is the Rockland Public Pier and Landing. On Rockland Harbor you will have a view of the Breakwater Lighthouse and walkway which is a mile long and can be walked, also the boats and an opportunity to sign up for a sail on the "Morning in Maine" schooner

Rockland is one of the nicest harbors you will visit and see. Beautiful and known for it's deep moorings and safe keeping.
This public landing hosts many traveling sailling vessels and pleasure cruise boats.
A place to stop and anchor for a bit of respit, with a shower and new supplies.
The "Harbor Master" is welcoming to the travelor of the Seas.
