Planet Dog: Heaven on this planet

by PupDawg

Planet Dog is an Eco friendly store with so many wonderful items for dogs. The have a great community outreach program that gives back to those in need, and you cannot beat the quality of their toys and gear. Any of the dog toys are amazing, I also love the fleece lined collars, harnesses and leashes.

...in every famous brands' outlets: Shopping in FREEPORT

by PALLINA

Freeport is a big open-air shopping mall. I am afraid there is anything but outlets and outlets of everything. Beside L.L.Bean, about which I will write a proper tip, Freeport have the outlets of Calvin Klein, Abercrombie, The North Face, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfinger. Just a warning: if you are going to visit New Hemphshire as well, consider that in NH there are no taxes on clothes up to 176 USD. North Conway, for example, has more or less the same brands.

Arts etc. in Ogunquit

by german_eagle

I personally am not a big shopper, but our American friends are *olympic* shoppers, LOL. My mother couldn't stay far behind ...Anyway, even I found the atmosphere in that small, picturesque village Perkins Cove, which is actually the harbour area of Ogunquit to be encouraging for shopping. Cute small houses were turned to shops with interesting things on display. I thought the stuff was of pretty good quality, especially the pottery (Chris Davis Stoneware Pottery e.g.) and the Jewelry and handblown glass in Swamp John's shop. Handblown glass, jewelry and pottery. A bit more than average.

The Christmas Tree Shops: Don't let the name fool you

by Rich62

Despite the name, this is not a store of just Christmas items. It is a big box store that seems to sell batches of overstocked items or seconds from who knows how many sources. You never know what you will find. One year they had lawn sprinklers for 50 cents each! We got a real nice canvas firewood carrier for 5 or 6 bucks.summer hours are 8 am to ten pm 7 days a week. You can find about anything in this place. very good prices, very inexpensive.

VARIOUS MARKETS IN MAINE: MAINE FLEA MARKETS

by LoriPori

Maine has an abundance of FLEA MARKETS. We passed so many as we drove along scenic #1 highway. I love snooping in Flea Markets with the only disappointment is that it's harder and harder to find that bargain antique or collector's item anymore. Perhaps sellers have gotten more savvy about what they're selling or have gotten just a tad bit more greedy. Anyway, it's not as fun as it used to be - my opininion. Here are some of the Flea Markets we passed along the way.Waterfront Flea Market14 Main St, Route 201Brunswick, Maine207-729-0378Saturdays and Sundays year-roundMontsweag Flea MarketRoute 1, Woolwich Maine207-443-2809Seasonal Wednesdays Fridays Saturdays SundaysLocated on Route 1 five miles north of BathThis'n That Flea MarketHancock Road, Route 1Ellsworth, Maine207-667-2192Saturdays & Sundays year-roundBargain Barn Flea MarketRoute 3, Ellsworth, Maine207-667-5022Seasonal Weekends and...

All: The farther north you travel...

by PA2AKgirl

We noticed that the farther north we traveled in Maine, the more expensive everything became. For example, gasoline down in Bar Harbor was about $1.87 per gallon and then up near Caribou is was about $2.10. Food was a little more as well...and cigarettes, if you're a smoker. If you're going to be traveling up that way, you might want to fill up your gas tank down near some of the cities or larger towns in Maine. North=much more. South=much less

Any Store, USA: Small Town USA shopping...

by richiecdisc

When passing through the small towns along Maine's coast, stop in and do some shopping in the five and dimes that still litter these quaint places, right beside the more touristy shops. It will give you a glimpse into a simpler time and make you wonder just why we "progressed" in the first place.

LL Bean: Designer Shops

by Bwana_Brown

The Freeport/Kittery area of southern Maine specializes in shopping plazas featuring designer stores hawking their wares! Mixed in amongst these is a Maine tradition, the L.L. Bean store, outfitters for the outdoorsman for decades. Mr. Bean was a native of Maine who gradually came to realize that certain types of clothing and implements were required to deal with the outdoors in this particular neck of the woods. Over time, the word got out on the usefulness of his products, and the rest is history! Anything that you need to deal with the great outdoors, from clothing to gadgets to equipment.
