  • Climb "Beehive" at Acadia

The photo really is what it looks like. You're hanging on a cliff, and need some metal steps/holds to keep you from falling over the edge and getting up there...

  • Climbing Mount Katahdin-the details

Climbing Mount Katahdin in Maine was one of the toughest hikes/climbs we have done so far, but definitely the most fun also. We started at Roaring Brook campsite. I had reservations for Chimney Pond campsite for 2 days in a “lean-to”, just in case the weather did not cooperate. It almost didn’t…..Chimney Pond campsite is at the base of Katahdin, at...

  • Kayak Maine's Streams and Ponds

Maine has a number of streams and ponds worth kayaking. One of our favorites is Belgrade Stream not far from Augusta. It's so wide and deep that it looks more like a river than a stream to me, and is has numerous tributaries to explore. We even ran into a group from Colby College canoeing down Belgrade Stream for their freshman trip.
