  • Have Breakfast in a Famous Place

$12 in July 2014. This is a casual looking diner that is well-known for having a great breakfast. Famous throughout Maine and New England. Since my motel had no breakfast, I stopped here. Both the service and the food was very good. Crowded though so allow plenty of time. Try the Hot Sausage and Cheddar Omelet. It's great!

  • Great Fresh Seafood

$19 in July 2014. This is a casual looking seafood place inside and out. Looks kinda like a fishcamp. The staff are a bunch of cute girls in shorts, and the hostess was very attractive. They offer a variety of seafood dishes (much of it fried). Service was good and the food was very tasty. It seemed very popular and there was quite a line of people...

  • Delicious Hot Dogs! Great restaurant!

If you love great hot dogs, you're going to love Yank's Franks on Route 1 in Wells, Maine. Yank's grills its dogs and serves them on a buttered grilled roll. (They'll actually steam your dog if you prefer, but if you want a real taste sensation definitely go grilled.) They have several fresh toppings to choose from; you're going to have to go back...

  • SEAFOOD BY THE SEA

A BIT PRICIER THAN SOME, BUT PLENTY GOOD and in good surroundings too. It overlooks the Rachael Carson Wildlife Refuge, and also Wells Harbor. I don't remember, that was several years ago. However, people writing reviews seems to especially like their lobster stew and their chowder.By the way, this is a place that also serves hamburgers ($8.99),...

  • Ice Cream and/or hot dogs

Very good ice cream, about 35 flavors from which to choose. My friend had a hot dog and it looked good also. I had some sort of coffee-flavored (jamoca?) ice cream, which was delicous.

  • Don't waste your time or your money

We heard mixed reviews of their restaurant and checked out the views online. We decided to go anyway. There is nothing special about this place and the food is lousy. They make a big deal about their "homecooking" but sadly, no, the food is the pits. And the staff, I don't know, not impressive in the least. It's like they try too hard to be nice or...

  • Drive by and do not stop

The parking lot was empty in the summer and that should have been a tip to not go in. The service was friendly but the food was terrible. Portions were very small and my shrimp was not fully cooked. They refused to take the plate back and correct the problem. The best tip I have is to just drive by and don't even bother to stop. Sad to say but the...

  • Disappointed

We traveled the main drag of Wells and selected this place for dinner. They had a talented pianist providing pleasant background music. The service was fine. However, the food was a disappointment. In the event we hit had a bad night, I'll just say that the food was terrible, and leave it at that. None

  • Popular and crowded but worth it

If you go in the summer, expect a wait up to an hour. It's worth it though. While you're waiting, you can check out the gift shop next door- they give you a beeper for when a table's available. The service is quick though, so once you get a table, you won't have a long wait for the food. And the food quite good for typical New England beach town...

Feile Restaurant and Pub: Very Nice Irish Pub

by Basaic Written Oct 8, 2014

Feile is an Irish Pub and a Restaurant. The restaurant has a fairly extensive menu. All the usual suspects at a bar, plus some great deserts some fancier entrees and classics from Ireland (like Bangers and mash). I had already eaten so I opted to just hit the bar. They have frequent special event and live music. The pub is located in an historic building that housed a tavern from 1799 to around the 1950s. Hours are 3 PM to 12 AM Monday through Thursday, 3 PM to 1 AM on Friday and Saturday and 11 AM to 12 AM on Sunday. Happy hour 3 to 5 and 10 PM to closing.

Dress Code: Casual is fine (I don't do dress up places).

If you are interested in lighthouses, this is the place for you. They have lighthouse clothing, lighthouse models, lighthouse books, lighthouse coffee mugs, lighthouse....well, you get the idea. And its handy too, sitting right beside route 1 in Wells, Maine.

What to buy: Whatever your heart desires, as long as it relates to lighthouses.
