This is a small local chain of sandwich shops. It originated on India Street Portland, Maine. When I was a child back in prehistoric times a large sandwich of this type was 25 cents. My parents took me to Eastern Boulevard overlooking Casco Bay for a sandwich as a picnic treat occasionally. It was a big deal complete with a soda sometimes, which at that time was a rare treat. I liked to roll down the huge hill and get dizzy for fun. Gosh those were simpler times.
Favorite Dish: Try an Italian sandwich; eat in or take with you. It consists of a special sub roll. with ham or genoa salami. cheese American or provolone. large tomato chunks, onions sweet green peppers Greek olives and sour pickles with olive oil . This is not a sub but an Italian. This is really a regionally specific sandwich. Note that the sign indicates that lots of large juicy tomatos are what make this delicious.
