This is a restaurant that serves hotdogs. I put it in this category because it's a short drive from the main York attractions and it's the most unique eating place I've ever been to. I hate hotdogs but my boyfriend likes them and this place always looks packed. So we went to Flo's. This place is delightfully ODD. It's only open 11-2, weird hours. Loyals wait in line at this little shack of a place, it's like a mini trailor or something.
Flo's is like no experience I've ever had. The ceiling is low and the waiting area is cramped. There are a few stools but nobody sits on them. There is one lady there and she's yelling at everyone to shut the door because of bees. You have to yell out your order upon walking in the door. Regulars warned us that once you place your order you can't change it. Totally reminded me of the Soup Nazi. It's that weird. There was complete silence except for those placing their orders and once you get your hotdogs, get out. Very unique and fascinating. Amazing to me that's there so many Flo's fanatics.

Most tourists come to York for Beaches and shopping. Few know of Mount Agamenticus. I had been visiting York Beach for over 20 years before I discovered this place. Mount Agamenticus offers panoramic views and you can see as far as Portsmouth, NH to Kennebunkport, Maine as well as spectacular views of the White Mountains.
The Mount Agamenticus region covers nearly 30,000 acres in the southern Maine towns of Ogunquit and York. The region provides exceptional wildlife habitat and opportunities for recreation.
Trails available for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. There is a lodge which is used for private functions.
There's a large rock pile near the parking lot with a legend on it. . According to this Indian legend, Chief Aspinquid was being chased by settlers when he jumped off the west face of the mountain only to die upon landing. The rock pile stands as a memorial to the chief. It's customary to place a rock on the pile where he is burried. However, there is much evidence to suggest Chief Aspinquid never existed.
