 | Annapolis Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 73 | | In June, we took the car to be serviced (we have to drive to Baltimore to do that) and we met Bob's friend Ed and his wife for dinner at the Main Ingredient Cafe. This place was originally Gary's Grill. The Main Ingredient started out as a catering firm and gradually took over the Gary's Grill site. The food is very good here and reasonable.
They had a two for $28 early bird special, which includes a cup of soup or a salad, a main course with two vegetables and dessert. Ed had the Cafe Meatloaf with mushroom gravy, his wife had Chicken au Poivree (pictured), Bob had Beer Battered Fish and Chips (pictured), and I had Chicken Pasta Palermo (pictured). I took some of mine home. I had the soup for starters (middle left), and others had the tossed salad (bottom) or the blue cheese and walnut salad (top left). We all had a hard time chosing the desserts. Our friends got a cheesecake which they split between them and then took the other dessert home. Bob had a chocolate cake, and I had a fruit pastry with whipped cream (pictured). The Middleton Tavern offers delicious meals in an 18th century setting. It is known for its seafood, but we've enjoyed everything we've ordered here. The tavern is located in an area immersed in history. Try any of their seafood dishes for dinner! If you are traveling with youngsters, ask to see their children's menu. Once you dine at Middleton Tavern take a walk around the restored dock area, which is usually the site of lots of activity. Boats sail in and out and it's a quaint gathering spot for locals and tourists alike.

The Yacht Club has numerous places to eat. The Main Bar is the Club’s center for socializing. The Third Deck Lounge for cocktails is an alternative to the main bar. The Casual Dining Room has chairs are fashioned after those aboard the SS Normandy where you can sit looking out on the best view in Annapolis. For more formal affairs there is the Fine Dining Room, and there is also the Skipjack where there is a replica Skipjack used as a bar. I'm pretty sure you have to be a member to eat there, or else have a membership in another recognized Yacht Club. Ed and his wife joined even though they are not interested in boats so they would have a place to have a wedding reception if they needed to.
Reservations are recommended for lunch and dinner. Ed picked us up in the Quiet Waters park in plenty of time, but the Spa Creek bridge (right by the club) was up and that delayed us. Nancy and I had cream of crab soup. They give you the sherry on the side so you can add the amount you like It was $5-6.00.. Bob and Nancy had the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Sandwich served on a potato roll with French Fries for $13.00. When my sister and I took my mom to Annapolis for her birthday we ate here one night. My sister did the research and she thought this was a place that my mom would enjoy. Other than that, I don't remember anything about it except that we had to either use valet parking or take a taxi. Breakfast Hours - 7:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., Lunch Hours - 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., Dinner, 5:30-9:30 pm. Sunday Brunch served between 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Their website says: We acquired our name from the Peace Treaty of 1783, also known as the Paris Peace Treaty which terminated the Revolutionary War, and was signed in Paris on September 3, 1783. Representing England was Richard Oswald, the Chief Negotiator under the Earl of Sheltbourne and their Secretary of State, David Hartley, who was signing for them. Representing the United States were John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and John Jay, all of who signed the Treaty. This Treaty acknowledged the independence of the United States of America. The Treaty also provided international navigation of the Mississippi River, stating that the river should be made free to all parties. It also stated that Florida and Menorca should be restored to Spain and that France should control Tobago and a region in Senegal. The Treaty of Paris, which was signed in Paris, was ratified in our Annapolis State House. Annapolis was the First Capital of the United States. After the ratification, the signatories—John Jay, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin came to this restaurant to celebrate our country’s victory. Hence, the source of our name.
Their website says: "The famous Treaty of Paris restaurant is located in the Maryland Inn. For over two hundred years, the Treaty of Paris has been the number one restaurant in Annapolis, catering to a most discerning clientele. The TOP has been endowed with several awards for its beloved recipes. In 2004, the Treaty of Paris will be inducted into the Hospitality Hall of Honor by the Restaurant Association of Maryland. Treat yourself to a delightful time at the Treaty of Paris. If you prefer casual fare, try the Drummer's Lot pub, the watering hole of the locals." I'm not sure whether I have ever eaten here or not. This restaurant is apparently right down on the waterfront, and after the boat show we did eat somewhere down here. But I have eaten at the West Street location of Griffin's, and I am assuming that there is some connection since they had this mural on their wall.

This is a very nice restaurant / bar to eat & drink. It is next to the Harbor, and you can sit outside and watch the boats go by.

I do not know anything about this restaurant, but I thought it looked interesting so I took a photo. We were eating across the street at The Main Ingredient. Expect the average entrée to cost in the range of $8 to $12, and you'll be appropriate if dressed casual. Eating & Drinking: Open for lunch and dinner.
They do not have a web site that I've been able to find but there is a review at dinesite.com "Decent Greek food. Their soups are quite good, meats, salads, spanikopita, ...are decent. The atmosphere is kind of sketchy without the quirky charm of Chris' Charcoal Pit across town. On the up side they have Greek potatos which Chris' doesn't." Chick and Ruth's is a unique slice of Americana located on Main Street Annapolis. We stopped in one morning for a late breakfast and were impressed by the friendly service, good food, and friendly patrons at the neighboring tables who were enjoying their morning and chatting with just about everyone. The menu items are named after local celebrities such as the Senator Paul G. Pinksy Pastrami and Swiss omelet, The Ellen Moyer cream cheese and olive on toast, the Vice President of the United States chicken salad on wheat, or the Middy burger named at the local US Naval Academy midshipmen. Prices are very good, ranging from about $4 to $9 for sandwiches, $5.50 to $8.50 Their hours are Sun - Thurs 6:30 am to 11:30 pm, Fri & Sat 6:30 am to 12:30 am. Leave a Comment
