Towson / Northern Fringe: One of the last Towson relics

    Angel's Grotto

Angel's Grotto is old-school Towson. Towson's changed tremendously over the past 5-10 years, and it's nice to know this place still exists. It's an old-fashioned bar with knowledgeable bartenders and a great juke box (prog rock, classics, blues...). They have some tables in the front and a large area with tables in the back. It's a great place to kick back with some friends. If you're looking for more of a typical student bar in this area, try The Crease up the road.

    Dead Freddies

It started out as a humble little bar on Harford Road named Fred's. But then Fred died, and three brothers bought it........

My sister works here a few days a week, so that's how I discovered it..... Great burgers, good beer and fun people......

    The Senator Theatre

by frankcanfly Updated Feb 25, 2003 2603 reviews

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Senator Theatre is usually where Baltimore's movie premiers are held.

Local movie producer, John Waters, almost always debuts his movies here...

Dress Code: For the best experience, I'd recommend renting one of the private skyboxes, which are original 1939 Art Deco style, for 15 to 40 people.

    Friday Night Swing Club

by frankcanfly Written Oct 25, 2002 2603 reviews

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Friday Night Swing Club is a weekly dance event, held in different locations throughout Baltimore. Obviously, it is held on fridays, in various ballrooms around the city. An 8pm lesson is included with your admission, then there is usually open dancing until midnight. The music is generally live......

Dress Code: You certainly need some dance shoes, but the dress is overall casual. Check the website to see if there is a 'theme night' when you go.....
