Very fun and relaxing tp just cruise the harbor and take in the wonderful weather. Great picture taking opportunities too!
It used to be that there were several water taxi companies in the Baltimore Harbor. But they've all consolidated into one now which is called Ed Kane's Water Taxi. The ticket you buy onboard is accompanied with a hand stamp and Letter of Marque Ticket with dozens of great discounts. Your ticket is good for all day service and covers all routes and all boats for that day, including your ride to Fort McHenry via boat or on one of our Red Jitneys (in season).
Tickets are now $9.00 for adults and $4.00 for kids 10 and under for all day unlimited use which includes a trip to Ft. McHenry.
They have 11 landings including the National Aquarium, Constellation and Visitor's Center, Science Center, Rusty Scupper Restaurant, Little Italy, Harborview Marina, Ft. McHenry, Fells Point, Canton, Boston Street, and Anchorage Marina. In the summer the water taxis come about every 15-20 minutes. The boats fit 26-64 passengers. An average ride from the Inner Harbor to Fells Point takes 14-18 minutes. The longest ride stretches two miles, from Harborplace to the Canton waterfront.
The water taxis are a fun way to get from the Inner Harbor area to various points on the water such as Fell's Point, Canton, Little Italy and Fort McHenry. An all day pass cost $8 (didn't appear to be any way just to get a one way fare) and the water taxis are fairly frequent, one pulls out and another pulls in. Buy your tickets on board
But I learned the hard way that they weren't the fastest method of transportation, I just missed one and then we waited for about 15 minutes to gather people, another 15 minutes to get to Tide Point (2nd stop) and another 15 minutes to walk to LP Steamers which appeared to be 2 blocks on the Water Taxi map but about 12 blocks in reality. Fortunately, they saved me some crabs :-)
On a sunny leisurely day, this would be a fun way to see the city and get some pictures of the Inner Harbor. I imagine some people just do a round trip on it for the boat ride.

I didn't have the opportunity to try out the water taxi, but they are available. At this time, an all day, unlimited ride, adult ticket is $9.00. 4 basic routes can get you at or close to several tourist spots in, and around the Inner Harbor.
This form of transportation is vast improvement over driving. I strongly urge you to purchase a pass when you first arrive in Baltimore. You can then use the taxis from almost every wharf as often as you like for the whole day.
You'll see this Water Taxi dock at the Harbor just West of the World Trade Center of Baltimore... I'm not sure of the price but stop on its list were many... next time I'm in i'll be sure to take this Taxi, it was very popular and looked like alot of fun!
If it isn't obvious, I loved the water taxi. It was a very cool way to get around and see parts of the city you wouldn't normally see without it. It is convenient & affordable. And the taxi drivers were very helpful, to get to some locations you must make connections at different landings and take a second water taxi. For example, when visiting Ft. McHenry, that requires a connection.
$7 one way
$12 all day hop on & off
The all day is clearly the better deal. These are adult prices. Children's tickets exist up to age 12.
Supposedly, the taxi's come every 20 mins. That isn't quite accurate, probably 2 times per hour is a better bet.
10am-11pm Summer Hours
11am-6pm Winter Hours
*Please check the web site for all 17 taxi stops.
**Don't miss Fells Point, it is one of the cutest stops with shops, bars, and restaurants.
***Capt. James Landing has a great all you can eat crabs $29.99 per person. (See my Capt James tip for more details)
If you're planning a day at the inner harbor, make sure you buy a day-pass on a water taxi. There are two competative companies, but they both make the same basic stops.
Water Taxi is $ 9.95 per adult and the pass is good all day. They stamp your wrist which allows you access throughout the day.
