 | Havre de Grace Shopping | Tips 1 - 7 of 7 | | Popular Shopping | Other Shopping Tips | All Tips (7) You will need to enlarge the picture by clicking on it to see the new sign on the old Murray Lauders Store. Its says Big Peckers Pickers. I think it must be a place for hunters to bring their birds for cleaning and preparations. There are lots of ducks in the area. I had to laugh at loud when I saw the sign. But Murray Lauders store always had hunting supples and such so its not such a big change I guess. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

If you look at the picture and see the small porch next to the Pepsi Machine you will see what used to be and old "Mom and Pop" store. Murray Lauders Store was a Havre de Grace landmark for years. It was one block from the High School and I can remember buying many a soda or candy bar on my way to and from school. The store used to have hunting supplies, canned goods, penny candy, and many other bizarre combinations of things. Today the store is gone. I believe Murray must have died years ago. But check out the next picture on this page for the new sign I saw on the old store. It will make you laugh. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Stokes Street

When I was growing up Havre de Grace had a two block shopping district on Washington Street. There were two 5 & 10 Stores, several clothing and department stores, a grocery store, bakery, and a hardware store. All of these private own little stores are now gone. The buildings have all been bought and renovated and now contain antique stores for the tourists. Its still small town life but on a different level. Leave a Comment Theme: Antiques

The home made ice cream is on one side of the street and the home made chocolates on the other. If you need a chocolate fix, I am sure you can find what you need. Me, I stick to the ice cream. Bomboy's has been open since 1978 and uses family recipes. One question though... how do they get all that cream from a plastic cow? Investment Antiques and Collectibles has an interesting display outside their shop (next to the vintage cobblestone). You may have the life size Blues Brothers for your very own! They were there in 2006 too, so you can probably get a pretty good deal now. When I was in Havre de Grace in 2006, I noticed this cute little building on St. John Street and took a picture. It looked like the barber shop had been closed for a while. In May 08 I took another picture. The sign in front said Nick the Barber and Grady. There is a barber shop listed online at 112 St. John Street called Taylor's Barber Shop. I don't know if that is the old owner or the new owner. You can see that they have really fixed up the place though. There is a building at the intersection of Pennington Avenue and St. John Street that will definitely catch your eye. It is a toy store that, I think, used to be called Amuse II and is now one of the Ziza Moon stores for children in the Baltimore area.
