Kent Island Travel Guide

We were visiting family in Deale, Maryland and drove over to the Kent Island Yacht Club for a visit and a drink. Nice views of the Chesapeake from here, but it was still cold out and I didn't get many pictures.

Sunday is your best bet if you're visiting on a weekend. Friday and Saturday nights can have a long wait. No reservations. Inside and Outside seating. Large windows still allow for a good view if dining indoors. Atmosphere is very casual, one of those restaurants that covers your table with a sheet of brown paper to allow for easy cleanup of the big mess you're gonna' make.

Favorite Dish: Crabs & crab soup

Don't let the tranquil picture fool you! This is early in the day. By afternoon this place will be JAmmed PAcked! Live music on Friday, Sat. and Sun. Sunday afternoons all summer long-bikini contests.

Dress Code: bathing suits, tees and shorts.

Getting on Rt. 301/ Rt. 50 can be maddening-it's a multi-laned, fast moving thru-road. We like to use the smaller Rt. 18 which runs parallel to 301. Much less hectic. Just watch the smaller narrows bridge of Rt. 18, it has to open for big boats, (or medium sized boats with big antennae!) Cars zooming above on 301/50 need not worry about boating traffic.
