Near Mt. Airy is the mail order company called Lily Pons. They have acres of lily ponds that are filled with a marvelous collection of water lilies as well as a lot of other water plants. They also have ponds, both large and small, for sale and on display as well as some pot water gardens. All of these can be installed in your yard along with expert advice on plants to put in them and conditions the plants enjoy. One especially pretty pot had a yellow water lily, purple blooming water hyacinth, and a dwarf cattail all in a pot of water for instant charm in your yard or on your patio. There are also fountains both large and small from water bubbling around a rock ball to a small bubbler in a pot. They do a lot of mail order business. We watched as a young lady waded out into one of the ponds amid the water lilies and dug one up and prepared it for mailing to a customer.

This small restaurant in Mt. Airy used to be a small school house. It's very pretty with a view out of the back window into the garden. The food is very good. My friend who lives here recommended the crab cakes and they truly were delicious. They have a good selection of American dishes, many served with rice and vegetables but baked potatoes are also available. It's a very relaxed setting and nice and quiet.

Favorite Dish: The crab cakes are delicious.

The Brick Ridge has a surprisingly sophisticated menu of creative American cuisine. In addition to the regular menu, specials all celebrate the food of a different U.S. state. The service is attentive and eager to please. Worth a trip!
