My first time cracking open Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs was certainly a messy one, but fun and tasty! When in Maryland (or nearby) during crab season, one should try the traditional bucket of crabs, which if you have skill (and I don't), you can crack open with a mallet, pull apart skillfully, and enjoy the small bounty of meat in each crab. Of course, each crab is seasoned generously with Old Bay Seasoning (which I learned will get on your hands and therefore season the meat you pick out of each crab). It's a fun time, and this place had delicious crabs! It also had delicious homemade desert!!
Sit on the deck outside, or sit inside if you like. There are at least two of this local chain that I saw. All I can say is this is the best crab cake I've had, ever! Large chunks of crab with only a little breading to hold it together made for a sumptuous lunch on the waterfront (bay side)!
Favorite Dish: Crab Cakes
Right over the RT 50 bridge and into West Ocean City is a treat awaiting. The huge resturant looks like a barn on stilts. The large windows offer a wonderful view of the bay that separates Ocean City and West Ocean City. The service is wonderful but be prepared to wait for a table on summer weekends!
Favorite Dish: All you can Eat Maryland Blue Crabs.
The servers drape your table with brown packing paper and on come the crabs tray after tray, also fillers such as chicken, french fries, hush puppies, ribs, steamed shrimp, fried clams and corn on the cob. All this for one low price you can't beat it.
A nice break from the hustle an bustle of the beach .
Request a quiet table and u might get one of the private tables. Very nice. A little 'cubby-hole' with draw curtains and you control your room lights.
But I have seen kakhi shorts with button shirt.
Favorite Dish: Smoked Grilled Duck Breast
Hickory smoked and grilled boneless breast in a raspberry sauce accompanied by assorted sun-dried berries.
Symphonia De La Mer
A medley of sauteed lobster, tender scallops, jumbo shrimp and mushrooms, flamed with brandy and served in a seasoned cream sauce over linguine.
Captain's Pizza is a pretty good pizza shop in Ocean City. We had a great "Meaty Pizza" with all of their meats and a "Veggie Pizza" with all of their veggies. Both were very tasty.
We paid about $38 for two large pizzas and two bottles of water.
They also offer an enormous 28 inch pizza. Two for about $55!!!
Despite the fact that I really wasn't having a great experience in Ocean City, this restaurant was quite charming. It was set directly overlooking the ocean and the menu was great. Special music was played signaling that the sun was setting and all should enjoy the view. We were referred to this restaurant by a local and we were not disappointed. Though I didn't stay after dinner, there was a nightclub downstairs which was getting pretty busy as we were leaving. It was an upscale looking place, but very casual dresscode.
Favorite Dish: CHICKEN LIVERS AND WATER CHESTNUTS IN BACON ... 7.00
With Horseradish Dipping Sauce. An Old Favorite! (we didn't like this)
CHESAPEAKE SEAFOOD PLATTER ... 25.00
Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, Broiled Shrimp and Scallops with Citrus-Herb Butter. Baked Russet Burbank Potato and Seasonal Vegetable (i enjoyed this)
BEEF TENDERLOIN FILET ... 32.00
With Caramelized Onion, Smashed Potatoes, and Seasonal Vegetable
(my dining partner enjoyed this)
This restaurant is a seafood buffet. It was built to resemble an 18th-century whaling tavern. To me, it was dark and dirty looking. I did not like that the drinks (soda) was not included in the price of the buffet!! It is mainly seafood. They do however have a potato and pasta bar. The food was just not good to me. I did not like the whole atmosphere. I would not eat there again. Not even with a coupon!
Favorite Dish: Fried Shrimp. That was the only good thing!
You simply can not beat the view that this roof top dining has! Parent hint...we found this a great spot to sip pina coladas and watch the ocean, and boardwalk. Interestingly enough, our teenagers walked past with friends, and we got a chance to see how they behave when they think we are not around (ie, good spy spot)! ;-)
Favorite Dish: Salad and Pizza!!
Cheese Steaks are great too!
They serve mixed drinks and beer also!
We have had this breakfast many, many times, and always...4 Star Service, Food, and we have given it our 'Personal Award' for
Best Breakfast on the Boardwalk!!
You better go hungry!
Go very early, and you will have little wait, they open at 8AM. Ask for a table by the window, and you will not be dissapointed by this all you can eat, ocean front, cloth table cloths, and cloth napkins, award winning hotel's charms!
Favorite Dish: Breakfast and dinner are both excellent. We always stop for the $8.95 All you can eat breakfast buffet.
Eggs Benidict, Pancakes or Waffles, Fresh Fruit and Pastry, Bacon, Sausage, cheese blintzes, or breakfast egg rolls (always a little different every day, so go every day and see what the surprise is)!
Great food, beautiful restaurant, what a view! Ask your hotel for a recomendation, and you may get a coupon to this great tradition at the begining of the boardwalk. It is right by the museum, and some great rides too, beautiful shops, location is a plus too!
It is a bit pricy, so save it for your big dinner out!
Favorite Dish: Raw Bar is open Saturday and Sunday.
I like the Chicken Chesapeake, Chicken breast stuffed with crab meat. Yum! Great salad with dinner, and all the side dishes you can eat!
Stained Glass Windows, Tiffany Lamps, Huge Beams, and great seafood, (in the all you care to eat variety). For the last 20 years, if we are in Ocean City, MD, Brother Rick makes sure we eat here. Go HUNGRY!
Favorite Dish: The all you can eat buffet is great. For those in your party who hate seafood (we have one of those), there are beef, chicken, ham, and wonderful made to order pasta bar. Salad Bar, Dessert Bar.
Salvatorie's. It's a pretty good Italian restaurant out on Route 50. The sad thing is that you have to drive to it. There might be an Italian restaurant on the Coastal Highway, but I didn't see one.
I had the Seafood lasagna. It was unbelievable.
I have a lot of favorite restaurants--but the one I always steer visitors to is Captain's Galley in West Ocean City. It is without a doubt, hands-down, the best restaurant for the famous Maryland crab cake. I've lived in Maryland all my life and have eaten muchos crabcakes--these are the best--and they are bursting with succulent backfin crab meat (that's the big white chunky meat) and almost no filler. You can't beat the rest of the menu either--shrimp salad is another winner!
The food and the location--it's in the commercial harbor and you can get a table overlooking the water,
watch the commercial boats come in--'Perfect Storm'
kind of boats.
Favorite Dish: See above.
