    Wild ponies (postcard)

Assateague Island is located just 15 minutes from the Ocean City. Island offers its visitors uncrowded beaches, bicycle paths, hiking trails, over sand vehicle routes, and canoe excursions. And, of course, the main sight is an up-close look at its famed ponies (over 150 wild ponies)! The island is surrounded by ocean and bay. So there are opportunities for fishing and crabbing.

Any day on the boards is a good day!

There is something for everyone on the boards. People watching, swimming, rides, old time photo studios, eat in/eat out restaurants, stores, stores, and more stores.
    Zen Note:
Must take kids to boardwalk and spend lots of money, all will have fun and good for KARMA all around!

    The Boardwalk

by Lilasel Written Jan 15, 2003

    Boardwalk view

"The heart and soul of Ocean City is the Boardwalk area" - say locals. Ocean City's world-famous boardwalk stretches from the downtown inlet all the way to 27th street. Along the 3-mile-long (1,8 km) boardwalk promenade, popular activities include bike riding, shopping in the unusual and gift shops, visiting the amazing amusement parks and dining at the large assortment of boardwalk restaurants.
The Boardwalk was created about 100 years ago by hotel owners with help from the city. Since that time, the Boardwalk is a focal point of the town where numerous festivals, events and parades take place.

    Ocean City's Boardwalk

Ocean City has a huge 3-mile long boardwalk next to sandy beaches that are about 100 yards wide and packed with people. The boardwalk itself is very wide with a path for bicycles and the boardwalk bus. On the side opposite the beach, you will find hundreds of snack stands, restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, and other beach town odds-and-ends.

I have been to assateague beach so many times and I absolutely love going there! The crowds are never really that crazy, its so rustic and relaxing, and of course seeing the wild horses is so amazing!

There's even a section of the beach that you can bring dogs to

    The Boardwalk: The main...

by MrGQ Written Feb 25, 2003

The Boardwalk: The main attraction to visitors. A wide boardwalk on the beach with tons of shops and resturants on the side. There is an amusment park at the begining of it and it keeps going till 30th St I think. It is always very corwded even around midnight!

If you're not into the touristy stuff then you should not be in Ocean City to start with :)
However, you can avoid The boardwalk and try some of the sports and outdoor fun Ocean City has to offer if you happen to be a sport's aficionado! Whether it's JetSki to Golfing,Parasiling or Fishing, Ocean City has it all.

For starters, Ocean City is fav with golfers. Within 20 miles of Ocean City, there are12 golf courses, from which eight are champoinship courses!!

For those die hard fishermen, you can charter a boat and go fishing in one of the richest waters on the east coast. You can fish for anything, Bluefish,Tuna,Marlin or even a Mermaid! Is this where I get my fish you ask? naaah .. I get it from the frozen section in my local supermarket! :)
You can also fish from the pier. I think you pay a small fee like $2 to go stand and wait and wait and wait for a fish to take the bait!

The bayside of O.C. is also for beginners to learn Jet Ski and windsurfing.

The ocean side, provides some strong waves for surfers and body surfers.

how long will it last ?

The boom over condos has taken over O.C.,Md. These places will not last long..Big money is spent to tear these down and build condos...
The character of Ocean City is slowly fading away...
TOO many high-rises being put up...Give the town a break....

This is where lots of wild horses live. It's so cool. You can camp there, but we didn't. We just drove over in the evening, and everything was closed. We drove around, and there were horses everywhere. Then we went outside and got up close with them. It was amazing.

  • Judith M Fishing Boat

    by Katie0630 Written Jul 5, 2012

My husband and I went out on the Judith M fishing boat during our trip to OC for our anniversary and we were super excited to go, but I have to say that it was Terrible! It was a 4 hour trip and we fished for no more than 20-30 min Total! A lot of other people on the boat were upset as well, esp about the Huge Lack of fishing. I mean we all paid a Lot of money to go fishing. The boat was clean and all but overall it was just awful! I never write bad reviews at all and I always try to find the good in everything, but I have to say that this def warrants it! I would Not recommend this boat at all..Dont waste your money!! Find a Better One!

    Bike Week

    by iam1wthee Written Sep 21, 2013

Every September they have special shows and exhibits for bikers. Entertainment includes famous singing groups and stunt shows. It is aimed more for soft rockers who are 40+. The atmosphere is a little tamer than what goes on in other Bike weeks around the country. Yes they are loud, drunk, but they are just about having fun. Let loose and have fun on the the overcrowded buses and any bar in OC.

Its cheaper to buy a ticket online before the event starts and buy for the whole weekend. Bus fare is included in the price of the ticket. It allows unlimited rides on the bus for that period of time a well.
