Ocean City Transportation

  • buses

The buses run every 5 to 15 minutes. The park and ride makes a stop at the outlets. Most attractions are accessible this way. There is a tram on the boardwalk but we walked it from beginning to end.

  • easiest way to get there

You have to eithe take the plane to Salisbury airport which you normally will have to transfer from BWI,or take Amtrak to BWI and take the shuttle for 3 hours to the Park and Ride Bus. If you are further up the island you may have to get a local bus. If that is the case it may be cheaper to pay for an all day pass instead of a one time fare.or...

  • Boardwalk Bus

Exactly the opposite of the Drunk Bus, the Boardwalk Bus is one of the worst deals in Ocean City. This bus goes from one end of the 3-mile boardwalk to the other. The fare is $2.50 for a one-way trip, even if you only want to go 1/2 mile. Better options: walking, jogging, riding a bike, swimming, crawling, hitch hiking...

Ocean City Shopping

  • Avoid Sanibel Jewelers in OC...

I went to this store right off the boardwalk in ocean city md. They have a large selection of rings. on display. I asked the girl if the ring I had picked out was sterling silver like the sign said and she assured me it was. I took the ring I wanted up to the counter and paid for it. THREE days later I was getting ready to leave my apt and realized...

Ocean City Local Customs

  • Rent a bike, or bring your own.

The locals know that the best way to get around is via bike. Ocean breezes, smells of the board walk and local wild life (the people) are best felt up close and personal. To feel the town, ride a bike all over.Down side to renting a bike is the large cash deposit. For the two of us, we had to leave $200.00 cash with the man. That's a big hunk of...

  • Crabs you cannot eat

Horseshoe crabs, common along the Delaware coast, have evolved little in the last 250 million years. Still, they have survived because of their hard, curved shells, which have made it difficult for predators to overturn them and expose their soft, vulnerable underbellies. The horseshoe crab has also survived because it can go a yearwithout eating...

Ocean City Tourist Traps

  • Sanibel Jewelry Store- Sells Junk

Do not shop at this store!! We have lived in Ocean City every summer for the past 4 years. This store sells low quality items that break and they do not stand behind their products! You are better off throwing your money in a trash can rather than purchase items at this store.

  • Head north!

As an alternative to Ocean City (or if you eventually tire of the boardwalk), consider driving a few miles north across the border into Delaware (Fenwick Island). • Grab your rod...

You don't need a boat to fish in this town. You do, however need a surf fishing license. I never see them pulling them in on the beach like we see them reeling them in at the inlet! The water is choppy, and the rocks make you snag up once in awhile, but the fish...big as my arm! Fish at the inlet, that's the spot! If you don't know, buy a book.

I must admit, i wasn't sure where to list this tip. I didn't feel the Wine Fest was a tourist trap since it was full of people that appeared to be from the area. I would definitely not recommend making a special t plans to attend this festival. The few wineries there were were all local (VA, DC, etc) and most did not offer, to me at least, good...
