Climate in Maryland

by Leipzig

It is not easy to give you an overview as the climate is remarkably varied.Spring: Average temperatures between 10 and 20°C (50-70°F), in the east up to 25°C (75°F) likely. In the west of Maryland, at night it can drop down below freezing point mainly in March. Summer: Average temperatures in the high 20s °C (mid 80s °F), in the east over 30°C (90°F) likely. In July and August 40°C (100°F) possible. Expect occasional thunderstorms. Fall: Average temperatures between 15 and 25°C (60-75°F). At night it can drop down below freezing point mainly in November in the west of Maryland. Especially in September very wet. Winter: Average temperatures slightly above freezing point, in the west below 0°C (32°F). The more west you go the more snow and colder temperature you find.Best time to travel: In my eyes the best time is spring and fall. Be prepared for any kind of weather!

Sunscreen in the Summer!

by RhondaRuth

One carry on a piece was enough for us & convenient not to have to "check it in" at the airport. Hat, sunglasses and walking shoes. Sunscreen Of course, your camera Bathing suit in the Summer ... Coat in the Winter. Maybe a "body" you've always wanted, haha.

In the summer, humidity is about the same as the Amazon rain forest. Typical local summer wear is shorts, a t-shirt, and sneakers. Winter- expect snow! Bring a warm coat, temperatures are very often at 0 C. No need...we're a rich country. If you're missing anything, there will be a cheap convenient store nearby. A typical American is not quite in tune with the latest fashion, despite what you might see on TV. Foreigners always stand out because they aren't wearing hideously ugly clothes. Don't worry too much about looking tourist-y. Americans look most like tourists anywhere they go.

Camping for ASSATEAGUE NATIONAL PARK: do not forget INSECT REPELLENT! Make sure it works with your sun screen. Most of the island is without shade and the mosquitos are real buggers. If these two do not work together you get either burned or badly bitten.

In summer, be sure to have a bathing suit. In winter, skis can be a plus. Hiking boots are also good, especially in the western part of the state.
