For her 91st birthday, my sister and I took my mom down to the Inner Harbor, and after we took the water taxi around, we ended up here to eat lunch. AE Phillips opened his first crab processing plant on Hoopers Island, MD around 1916. He and his wife opened a little crab shack in Ocean City in the mid 50s to have an outlet for the crab meat of the processing plant. Now while they have a couple of restaurants outside of Maryland including one in D.C., this is primarily a Maryland company. They sell seafood over the internet in addition to in their restaurants and stores. The Bagdasian family opened "Adam's the Place for Ribs" in 1981 after operating at the original location in Edgewater, Maryland as a neighborhood restaurant since 1965. They have since opened four other locations. They also cater events such as Golf Tournaments or weddings (catering truck in photo 5), and they will deliver their ribs anywhere in the US. I considered having the coconut shrimp appetizer, but eventually settled for a small rack for $10.95 with a side of green beans (the vegetable of the day $1.75), pink lemonade and a home made key lime pie. I thought the green beens had a little too much garlic, but they were fresh ones, and nicely cooked. The meat was spicy and could be eaten from the bones with a fork. Bob had a regular small rack (I didn't want the french fries that came with that which is why I ordered ala cart) for $12.95, and iced tea. The soup of the day was cream of crab, and they also had steaks, rockfish, tuna, crab cakes and other seafood. The second time we went, I had a half chicken and cream of crab soup, and Bob had a regular small rack again. We've been going to Tara Thai for years -- it started with one location in Bethesda, but there are now three in Maryland and three in Virginia. We usually alternate between the Bethesda and Rockville Pike locations. I can't count how often we've been there. We've always measured Thai food anywhere in the world (well, haven't been to Thailand - yet) against Tara Thai, and it's really hard to beat. Colors - bright and modern and happy - welcome you into each restaurant. The decor is unique in each one. The service is always cheerful and helpful. In Bethesda, when the weather is nice, there's outdoor seating -- but I LOVE the brilliant decor indoors.
Sometimes we'll just make a meal of four or five appetizers -- with our all-time favorite being Hoi Obb - fresh mussels steamed with lemon grass, galanga and basil, and served with a chili dipping sauce. It is plenty big enough for two to share, although I've often picked it for my entree. The spring rolls here are really really good, (I don't usually do anything so "normal' as spring rolls, but these -mmmm) and Kanom Jeep, crabmeat, minced pork and waterchestnuts wrapped in wonton skin, steamed and served with Thai soy sauce. My newest entree favorite is Goong Phuket - grilled black tiger shrimp topped with a hot sweet spicy crabmeat and chicken sauce. Tsing Hao beer is the perfect accompanyment to Thai food. When my son is with us, we'll get dessert usually wonderful homemade ice cream, coconut or coffee. This may be a famous chain of restaurants, but they're definitely worth mentioning. In Maryland you will find them in Annapolis, Baltimore, Bethesda, and Pikesville. The one in Baltimore was voted #1 of the Top 10 places to get steak in Baltimore. The food was great, with the filet actually melting in your mouth as advertised. The side dishes come large enough for two so be prepared to share. The service and ambiance were perfect. Especially enjoyed were the sports memorabilia decorating the walls of the "Player's Room" dining area.

Impeccable service with a sophisticated, romantic atmosphere! Our waiter would ask us, "Is everything as it should be?" And it was.. always. This restaurant is owned by Aldo Vitale, who was born in southern Italy.

A quaint, yet spectacular dining experience! This Cafe is a jewel to be found in the neighborhood where it operates. Try to dine outside in the serene garden, surrounded by fresh flowers, and listening to birds and the trickle of the nearby fountain.

This is a Thai-influenced fusion sort of place. The food is extraordinary. We sat outside to enjoy some truly wonderful weather on Fathers' Day and just absorbed every perfect minute. Starting with grilled oysters and Siam Mussels was a great idea. They gave us a basket of a curried toast to sop up the fantastic sauce from the mussels. We had a wonderful bottle of white wine (a Simi Valley Sauvignon Blanc) that hit just right on all counts. Our main courses-- I had a crab "cake" (in name only) over orange infused rissoto. Steve a salmon "stuffed" with the same AMAZING crab. Huge lumps of crab. Virtually no filler to turn it into a cake. This was the best crab I've had in YEARS!!!!! And then dessert--- homemade cinnamon icecream with apple pie for Papa Steve, and Key lime pie for me. yum. The Rusty Skupper and Phillips Restaurants are both in the inner harbor area - and both have delicious fresh seafood. You haven't tasted seafood until you've cracked a Maryland crab! Yum!! Leave a Comment Theme: Other

If your in the Salisbury area (on Route 50, pass through on your way to Ocean City, MD) visit La Tolteca. The food is very good and so is the atmosphere. There is also one in Bel Air, MD however the atmosphere is not as warm, even though the food is still good. It's easy to find something under $10 although not all dishes are under $10.
