by lotus_sutol Everything about this restaurant is unique. From the twisted twigs holding up curtians- to the antique dolls crawling up the walls- army men hanging from light fixtures- I'd call this an experience one shouldn't miss. The food is fabulous- vegetarians, vegans, and meat eaters can all delight at this fabulous 24 hour restaurant located nearby Johns Hopkins University.
California Dream: Avocado, fresh basil and vine-ripe tomato between two crispy tortilla shells with melted cheddar and swiss cheese served with a side of salsa and sour cream. Simply delicious. Their omelets are the closest I've had to heaven since the ones I had in North Beach -San Francisco. Sunday Brunch is 10-3, and Happy Hour (half price appetizers) is 4-7 I thought appetizers were expensive. They included BBQ Chicken Quesadilla $8.19 Sweet Corn Cakes $6.99 Hot Crab Dip $8.99 Spinach Dip $7.19 Loaded Skins $6.29 Fried Mozzerella $6.59 Fried Calamari $8.19 Hot WIngs $7.99 Appetizer Favorites for four people $23.99 I decided to have an Arnold Palmer to drink (half lemonade and half iced tea $2.29), a cup of lobster bisque ($4.79 - which was OK-2nd picture), and the black and blue 8 oz. sirloin which marinated overnight in spices, and covered with blue cheese $11.59. It came with the creamed spinach which was covered with melted provolone cheese and was excellent, and a baked potato (last picture). I asked for my steak to be medium rare, but it was hardly pink at all. Bob had the meatloaf dinner, which was served with mashed potatoes, brown gravy and fried red onions. The prices weren't bad although they have increased $3-$5 since I last looked, but in addition to my steak being overcooked, the service wasn't too swift. Bob was drinking water, and he ran out. It was a long time before the waiter even noticed, and after that he didn't come back to fill the water for quite awhile. We didn't get any bread. We didn't get dessert because they didn't look that appetizing on the display table and also looked like they were too big for one person to eat. (They included cheesecake $4.99; Key Lime pie $4.79, Strawberry shortcake $5.79 and it wasn't really shortcake it was yellow cake, Apple Pie $4.59, Peanut Butter pie $4.69, Chocolate Obsession $4.99, Carrot Cake, a Brownie Sundae or a regular sundae - 3rd picture). I was tempted by the ice cream drinks which included Chocolate Monkey ($6.79 - vanilla ice cream Hershey's syrup, bananas and rum), Jasper's Freeze $6.69 (screwdriver made with orange sherbet $6.69), and Frozen Toasted Almond (Amaretto and coffee liqueurs, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and nutmeg $6.69) in addition to the usual wines and beers Leave a Comment
