    Train to/from Rockville

by GentleSpirit Written Mar 3, 2013

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Rockville has several stops along Metro's Red Line.

Rockville Station will leave you at Rockville Pike. Cross the pedestrian bridge and you will be in Rockville Town Center. No more than 5 minute walk

Twinbrook- this will leave you along Rockville Pike, there are more shopping opportunities and hotels here.

Strathmore Hall- this stop leaves you close to the Strathmore Music Center.

MARC train (Maryland Commuter Rail) stops at Rockville Station. This line runs from Martinsburg, WV to Union Station in downtown DC. This is a good way to go if you want to get out to see a few of the historically important places around here, like Harpers Ferry WV.

At the Rockville Metro station there are platforms for the Amtrak and Marc trains.

The Amtrak part is rather limited, there is no ticket office or real services, just a platform.
Rockville is the last stop before Union Station on the Capitol Limited line.
the train starts at Union Station (DC) stops at Harpers Ferry WV- Cleaveland OH and ends in Chicago IL.

    Montgomery County Ride On Bus

by GentleSpirit Updated May 13, 2013

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Montgomery County has a pretty efficient bus system that serves most of the region. Since the Metro only goes as far as Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg you might find yourself needing to take a bus.

Regular Fare is $1.80. Please consult the website as they have other pricing for seniors, the disabled and some others.
** you will get a discount if you use Smart Trip card***

if you need information on how to get where you need to go you can consult the link below
in montgomery county you can also call 311 and ask for bus help. Unfortunately that service is only available during the week. There is a pretty good route planner.

At the bus stop- look for the bus stop sign (in the photo). You do not need to hail the bus to stop like in other places, it will stop for you unless you step back from the bus stop. If you look at the bus stop sign usually it will have numbers on it, these are the buses that pass at that bus stop.

note- pets are not allowed on the bus.

Please check the website beforehand if possible. Buses run from 5 am. However, some routes stop at 8pm, the major routes will stop at 11:30.

If you fly to Maryland there are 3 airports in the area. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Washington, DC. There is a metro station at the airport so depending on where you are going once in the area you can take the metro.

Baltimore-Washington International Airport in Baltimore, Maryland ------

    Washington Dulles International Airport
    District of Columbia, Va -----

I have used all the airports.

There's all kinds of ways to get there. You can get there by train, public buses, or automobiles.
Most people drive cars. Some people who live closer might bike (Typically, it's not very safe. So I don't recommend it). You can also ride public buses to get around. But I still think driving an automobile is the best way.

Best way to get around town and also get to an airport is to use a taxi. The most reliable and clean taxi's are operated by Regency Taxi.
