Although Towson is unincorporated, it has been the County Seat of Baltimore County since 1854. The old Courthouse, which is still in use, shares a plaza with the newer Courts.

There is a site on the internet which has Baltimore County trivia quizes. From the May 2005 quiz

Question 9. The Towson Courthouse was originally a rectangular building which was two stories in height and nine bays wide. When were additions added?

Answer 9. Designed by Dixon, Balbirnie, and Dixon, the Courthouse was built between 1854 and 1856 on land donated by Dr. Grafton Bosley. This Greek Revival building was constructed with local limestone and granite. Additions were made in 1910 (wings), 1925 (west wing raised to two stories) and 1958 (3-story addition to the west end).

If you want to take the rest of the quiz, go to the URL below.
