JeannieBird Baking Company: Bakery goodies to die for!
Sweet or savory - JeannieBird's pastries and other goodies are a real treat!
The shop opened just a few months ago and they have already become a Main Street favorite. All pastries are made on-site; owner and baker Jeannie herself is usually behind the counter or buzzing around the kitchen.
In the morning, they offer locally roasted coffee; in the afternoon, they are BYOB. Grab a bottle of vino and a couple of savory pastries and hang out in a window seat and people watch!
O'Lourdan's Irish Pub: Keep driving on by...
I had not been to O'Lourdan's Irish Pub in several months and returned this past weekend to find them in a sorry state. The food was tasteless and bland (had a spicy appetizer, the Jameson's Steak tips, and it needed some spice...omg). The atmosphere used to have a real flair for the Celtic and those proud of Irish heritage. Again, not the same anymore...they had a 'rock' band there this past weekend. When I used to go it was Celtic Rock bands and bagpipes...no more! To add insult to injury, the bathroom was a dirty, smelly mess. I am saddened and disheartened to know that this restaurant has gone so far downhill but it really has...when you get there, just keep on driving by!
Favorite Dish: Nothing.
Baugher's Restaurant: Down home eating
Cheap food served among the good old boys of Curl Canny, Merlin (or Carroll County, Maryland to non-natives). Anything made with apples is a good bet (they are connected with their own orchard) and the ice cream is great (although many prefer Hoffman's across town).
Favorite Dish: Fried chicken livers, followed by apple pie a la mode.
