Westminster Things to Do

  • Class Graduation Stone

This stone is really neat because on each side is dedicated to the graduating classes of 1883-1886. It must had a sundial or some statue that was located on it, but now it is gone sadley. Still a neat memorial to those first students of the college.

I had not been to O'Lourdan's Irish Pub in several months and returned this past weekend to find them in a sorry state. The food was tasteless and bland (had a spicy appetizer, the Jameson's Steak tips, and it needed some spice...omg). The atmosphere used to have a real flair for the Celtic and those proud of Irish heritage. Again, not the same...

  • Down home eating

Cheap food served among the good old boys of Curl Canny, Merlin (or Carroll County, Maryland to non-natives). Anything made with apples is a good bet (they are connected with their own orchard) and the ice cream is great (although many prefer Hoffman's across town). Fried chicken livers, followed by apple pie a la mode.

Love that chicken from Popeye's? Eat it someplace else. The nearly toothless folks that run this franchise have a hard time with the concept of fast service or having side dishes available (unless you want a side of chicken with your chicken). Pressed for time? The Burger King across the street is a better bet. Want tasty chicken in the SAME amount of time? Try Baugher's, on the other side of town.
