Flew into Logan from Atlanta last week---there are 3 main terminals connected by a free bus system, and you can also walk between them if you are not in a hurry----it took about 20 minutes to walk from A to C.....A is the Delta concourse and C is for Cape Air and Jet Blue going out to the Vineyard and other Islands.
Follow the signs to either ground transportation or to the hallways connectin the concourses.

the main gateway to boston and the New England Area (excluding southern half of connecticut where the gateway is the JFK in New York). Logan International Airport has 103 gate positions total divided among four terminals, A, B, C, and E. All terminals are connected by shuttle buses, as well as between Terminals A, B and E via moving walkways pre-security.Moving walkways also connect the terminals to a central parking garage designed for consolidated service between all 4 terminals and the garage itself.
address is: 1 Harborside Drive, East Boston, MA 02128
The MBTA's Silver Line SL1 bus rapid transit service connects South Station, a major MBTA Commuter Rail, Amtrak, Red Line subway and bus transportation hub in the downtown Boston financial district, with all Logan terminals. Silverline bus tickets are sold in every terminal building to the far right of the lower level. There is also an Airport stop on the MBTA's Blue Line subway service. The Blue Line stop is not in the airport terminal itself; free shuttle buses 55, 22, and 33 provided by Massport bring passengers from the train station to the terminal buildings. The MBTA operates a water shuttle connecting Logan with downtown Boston, Quincy, and Hull. Taxi operations are coordinated at each terminal by Massport. Metered-rates from Logan to the Boston-area hotels range from approximately $25.00 to $50.00. The airport fee for trips leaving the airport is $2.25. Additionally, the city of Boston charges a $2.75 fee for trips to Logan Airport. Airport Shuttle and Hotel Limousine Pickup service is also available. For Terminal A, the pickup location is on the arrival level, outside baggage claim, in a small parking lot across the road. At Terminal E, pickup is also on the arrival level in a small parking lot across the outermost curb. For Terminal B (both American Airlines and US Airways sides), pickup is at the curbside on the departure level at the outermost curb area. At Terminal C, pickup is also on the departure level at the second and third islands from the building.

Getting to the city center from Logan Airport can be trying, depending on the time of day:
TAXIS are probably the easiest option, but quite expensive. Massport charges the cab driver (hence, it will cost you) $6.25 just to be allowed to pick up a passenger at the airport. One possibility to avoid the ludicrous airport fees is to take the Silver Line (see below) to South Station and take a taxi from there.
SUBWAY: The MBTA has two main options to get to Downtown Boston from the airport. The "Silver Line," really a bus as opposed to a subway train, stops at all terminals and takes you through the Ted Williams Tunnel to South Station via the Seaport World Trade Center. Eventually it will have its own lane, but right now, it drives on the main highway and contends with city traffic. Cost is $2, or $1.70 with a pre-paid "Charlie Card." You can also take a shuttle bus to the Blue Line's Airport station. From there, you can take a train downtown. The shuttle bus is free; the train costs $2 for a paper ticket, or $1.70 if you have a Charlie Card.
WATER SHUTTLE: The MBTA's Harbor Express will get you from the Airport to Long Wharf. Fare is $6. Not a great value, but scenic. Take Shuttle Bus 66 from the terminals to the dock.
RENTAL CARS are an option, but not a very good one. Shuttle buses will take you to the various companies. But cars are a useless headache in the city itself.

Logan International Airport (Airport Code: BOS) is served by 28 airlines, from Aer Lingus to Virgin Atlantic. In addition to numerous flights from various locations in North America, the Carribbean, and Latin America, you can get direct flights to Logan from Ireland, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Iceland.
Logan has 4 terminals, designated A, B, C, and E (don't ask what happened to Terminal D...). International flights arrive in Terminal E. If you have the misfortune of making a connection at Logan, pray that your connection departs from the same terminal. If not, you'll likely have to exit the secure area, take a shuttle bus or walkway to your connecting terminal, GO BACK THROUGH SECURITY, and proceed to your gate. Allow for extra time accordingly if connecting at Logan. It should be noted that Massport plans to construct passageways allowing you to go from terminal to terminal without having to re-enter security. It was supposed to be finished in 2005. Don't hold your breath.

Most international flights arrive at Terminal E. You can rent a luggage cart to help you move your luggage from the carousel to the exit area. Free bus shuttles are available every 15 minutes to take you between the terminals. Check-in at the designated terminal of your connecting domestic flight. For example, Terminal C is for Jet Blue domestic flights. Here's info of terminals & airlines at Logan airport:

The "Big Dig" has made it much easier to deal with the airport in Boston. Travelling from the south up Rte I 93 you find the signs to the airport and travel under water through the new tunnel for quite a distance...but then you are in the airport property when you come out. Watch the signs carefully for various terminals and their parking areas. Our frined was arriving on United Airlines so we parked, walked into the structure which has a cross over bridge directly into the terminal... and had a very pleasant experience while getting to where we needed to be. The new crossover bridge is bright and attractive, the elevator structure has recordings of birds playing while you wait in a sunny glass enclosure. Very nice! Once in the terminal it was easy to find ticket counters, gates, restaurants (altho some were under construction) and baggage claim, etc. I thought it was all made quite simple in the renovated terminal. We found a quiet place with rocking chairs while waiting for the flight to arrive. We had lunch in Legal Seafoods....delicious chowder!

By plane:
Logan International Airport (Airport Code is BOS). Direct flights from all major points in the U.S. For international travelers, this is closer to Europe so you should be able to find direct flights to BOS from major European cities like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich, Dublin, London, Paris, Milan, Zurich, Reykjavik, to name a few. From Asia and other continents: Tough! Go through another U.S. point of entry to connect to Logan. No other way around it! The airport offers shuttle buses from all terminals to subway, parking lot, and even to the water taxi.

Not known for anything good, Logan has road construction, terminal construction, very expensive parking, and no easy public transport access from Boston. Not to mention flight delays. But what airport doesn't have most of those things?
We have grown to accept Logan as a part of life in Boston. It may not be good, but it isn't always bad either. Plus, the near constanct construction has starting to come to a conclusion and the results are shaping up well.
One of our favorite things about Logan is landing on a trans-Atlantic flight. It looks like the plane is going to touch down on the water, until the runway appears without a moment to spare!

Logan International is the main airport for Boston. There are 5 terminals for all major US airlines and several international flights from Europe. The airport is located in the harbor just outside of Boston.
For public transportation between the airport and Boston: there is a free shuttle bus service from all the airline terminals to the subway: T-station: Airport (blue line). From this station it takes about 10 minutes to get to downtown Boston.
The airport also has shuttle busses to several rental car companies, all located on the premises.

Logan is a busy airport but it's rather small nonetheless (at least compared to NYC, DFW or LAX airports)... or so it seemed to me when I arrived there. What I loved the most was its location next to the sea and close to the city: you could see the planes taking off and landing from the Inner Harbor area.
The facilities are not too large, as I said, but the airport is conveniently located close to a "T" (subway) station which will take you anywhere in town. There are free shuttles that take you from the different airport terminals to the T station every 10 minutes or so.
I arrived here after a stop-over in Dallas; there are many airlines arriving into Logan but very few direct flights from Mexico -- you have to stop somewhere else in most cases before arriving in Boston.
