Since 1965, every October in Cambridge, MA celebrates The Head of the Charles regatta. This is a Rowing competition on the Charles River and draws a huge crowd. How huge? It is held the same day as the annual Harvard-Yale football game and and blow the attendance away by thousands.

Boston is one of America's great sports towns (along with New York, Philadelphia, Chicago among others). Locals will talk passionately and knowledgeably about their beloved hockey team the Bruins, their legendary basketball team the Celtics and their championship football team the Patriots. But above all, they will talk your ear off about the city's baseball team, the Red Sox. They waited about a million years for their first World Series championship, which finally came in the fall of 2004.

    Good Local Swimming Pool

A good place to take the kids on a sunny day, is the local YMCA. (Link below).

Apart from some nice big pools, there are usually some supervised childrens activities going on such as jewelry making, painting etc) to keep the smaller ones amused while you have a nice relaxing swim/read a book.

Children can also have birthday parties there.

Bowling in New England is different than everywhere else in the World. Instead of the standard 3 hole balls and pin, we bowl Candlepin. The pins are thin and tall, the ball fits in the palm of your hand, maybe twice the size of a softball. It is much harder to score using this method, but it is tons of fun.
This is very popular, Boston even has it's own candlepin bowling show on t.v. on the weekend

Hats off to all Bostonians (and New Englanders, in general) for showing us throughout history what patriotism is all about...

    Sailing is a New England...

Sailing is a New England tradition and the Charles River is always full of sailboats and yachts which are great to photograph from the riverbanks of Boston.
