 | | | | Squealing Pig: Best pub in Boston | Tip Rating: | | | | |
The Pig is my favorite hangout in Boston. Friendly, funny staff, comprised mostly of Irish men and women, add to the atmosphere of the place. Old wooden tables, wooden theater seats in the large corner tables, and reclaimed iron beams and old drug store signs create a true "old feel". It draws an eclectic crowd of locals, hospital staff, museum employees, and MassArt and Northeastern students. The music is fantastic, and the 'toasties' are delicious. You can even get a deep fried Mars Bar here! Live music most Saturdays. Never a cover charge. On Thursday you will find Mike at the mic, with his funny song parodies. The crowds always sing along. There is also a side room with gas fireplace and wingback chairs, and separate bar that is great for a private party, but open at all times. They have a large pulldown screen with satellite TV and show the major sporting events. Once in awhile they host a dinner and a movie night, with a guest chef. The owner also operates a second Squealing Pig in Provincetown. Theme: Eating and DrinkingAddress: 134 Smith St.Phone: 617 566 6651Directions: Mission Hill, off of Huntington Ave.

 | | | | King's: bowling, billiards, and beers | Tip Rating: | | | | |
King's, the newest addition to the Lyons Group's clubs, took over the space of the former Cheri movie theater. There is a pool room, ten-pin bowling alley with jumbo screen TV's, a cocktail lounge, and a Summer Shack restaurant. My 40th birthday party was held here, and we had a great time. The staff was amazing, and let us take over one bar area (there was about 25 of us), and took very good care of us. This is an Irish pub that we visited during St. Patrick's Day weekend during 2003. Nat is seen here laughing like we all did most of that whole trip. A few beers and a long day and it was all funny to us.
As you can see we were pretty casually dressed. Just a cool pub to hang and chill in. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingAddress: 710 Boylston StreetPhone: (617) 536-5300
