Black Heritage Trail, Boston
Museum of Afro American History
14 Beacon Street
Hours: 10:00am-4:00pm Mon.-Sat.
This museum chronicles African American history in Boston and the contributions of African Americans from Boston and Massachusetts. It is also the starting point of the Black Heritage Trail, a 1.8 mile trip to historical antebellum sites which capture the strong anti-slavery fervor present in Boston during the early 1800s. The African Meeting House is an important stop on the Black Heritage Trail; it is the the oldest black church in America as well as the site of famous anti-slavery speeches delivered by Frederick Douglass.
