Boston is supposed to be absolutely freezing in winter. I brought heavy wool coats, hats, gloves -- you get the picture. Well, the first week of December 2001 they had record-breaking heat -- around 75 F during sunny days. People were walking around in t-shirts and shorts, and sitting in outside cafes. On our last evening, December 13, at 11 pm, it started snowing. I was thrilled, and wanted to get up to walk around the block while it was still snowing. I couldn't convince Robert that was a good idea, because we had to leave at 5 am for the airport. All I got were a few photos out of the hotel window. The next day it was already turning to rain, and the coming week was supposed to be very warm again. So, the only thing that is a sure thing is to bring good walking shoes. Also, it is an East Coast big city, so bring dressy clothes if you're into nice restaurants, opera, theater, etc.

A tripod would be a good idea to capture all the lights at night, especially during the holidays. I didn't bother with one, and you can see how blurry some of my night shots are. But I was having so much fun, I didn't care. Blurry = artsy -- correct?
