Blue Ribbon is a sort of takeout barbecue place in West Newton, a cozy little suburb of Boston about 10 miles outside of downtown. Blue Ribbon was next door to my gym when I lived in Boston. You see where I'm going with this, right?
The barbecue is homemade in the back, and it's fabulous. If you're a pulled pork fan (which I so am and have since eschewed and become an almost-vegetarian...sob) this is your place. The sauces are unique, spicy and tangy, and not too thick. This makes for a rather messy eating experience, which I think is half the fun of this place. Go here on a warm summer day and take the food to go and go eat out on one of the little town's lawns or greens. Just make sure you try their fabulous lemonade in a bucket -- and take a lot of napkins with you!
Favorite Dish: Pulled pork sandwich. Ridiculously good.
