J.P. Licks is known in Boston as one of the best places to have a great treat. The ice cream was quite good, but for me it wasn't out of this world great.

If you find yourself strolling on a hot summer day on Newbury Street and fancy a nice cool treat, stop by and grab an ice cream, sorbet, shake or yogurt to quench that summer heat.

Favorite Dish: For those of you that travel with your little "pups", they carry a selection of "doggy ice cream" like "Cow Paws" a non diary treat for four legged baby.

I of course tried the "Mojito Sorbet" Yum I have also had the "Cows Track on a waffle cone!!

J.P. Licks: Good ice cream on Newbury Street

J.P. Licks is a good place for some homemade ice cream. I had a cup of strawberry and also tried the mint chocolate chip (the white version, not the great version) and both were good. They also have coffee, fruit smoothies and other ice cream related concoctions. The interior is cool and I'm sure kids would especially love it, but I've had better ice cream.

  • J. P. Licks: Good ice cream, but you can do much better

There are a lot of JP Licks outlets around town and they all have decent ice cream, but it's nothing to write home about. If you want the BEST homemade ice cream, go to Christina's in Inman Square (Cambridge) or White Mountain Creamery in Chestnut Hill, on the green line T near Boston College. Christina's has a variety of wild flavors, like chocolate chili, avocado, and ginger. White Mountain Creamery is absolutely to die for, with ice cream like you've never had. The texture is a little stretchy, like cheese, and strawberry is so delicious it brings tears to my eyes.

Favorite Dish: The good thing about JP Licks is you can taste anything you want & they have a list of staff favorites on the wall.
