Wow! The selection of pastries, bread, cookies, etc, is amazing. I added calories by just walking in and looking at all different things for sale. There are other bakeries in the North End, though this one has the most to offer.
If you want gelato or coffee beverages for take out, line up on the right, by the gelato coolers. If you want pastries and other desserts, line up to the left.

Well, I went there twice and had a couple of classic Italian desserts, pistachio gelato and a cannoli! Having just been in Italy 3 months earlier, this place is quite authentic and always crowded. Apparently, when former President Clinton visits Boston, Mike's Pastry is always one of his stops.
This is a traditional Italian bakery that has existed in Boston's North End for decades. It's very popular, and as a result, tends to get very busy. But that's usually a good sign. All items are made fresh on the premises, and there's a lot of choice to pick form!
There's biscotti, cakes, cookies, pies, squares, torrones, gelati, and even fruit-shaped marzipan.
If you're looking for a taste of traditionally Italian baked goods, then definitely drop by!
Favorite Dish:
Although not traditionally Italian, I bought an M&M cookie here. How can you go wrong with an M&M cookie? You can't! :)
the best italian or rather sicilian cannollis in this side of the globe! you will have a long line at all times everyday just to get inside and order any cannoli, even the tables for waiting service are few but these cannolis are definitely worth it! (A diabetic's nightmare!)
Favorite Dish:
the various cannolis
more pictures of Mike's Pastry since you can only upload 5 pictures per tip. the best italian or rather sicilian cannollis in this side of the globe! you will have a long line at all times everyday just to get inside and order any cannoli, even the tables for waiting service are few and the cannolis are definitely worth the wait! I always say (as do many others) that you can't get a bad meal in the North End. Well, I'm sure the same holds true for it's bakeries. However, Mike's Pastry seems to be easily one of it's most popular ones, if not it's most. They've got a huge selection of pastries, cakes, gelato and the most colorful and inventive marzipan.
Favorite Dish:
The lobster claws are huge, delicious, filling and decadent. My hat's off to anyone who could polish one off on their own in one sitting!
Living on the West Coast, it's not easy to find bakeries like the ones I used to go to while growing up in Brooklyn, NY. Luckily, in Boston, I found one...Mike's Pastry in the North End. From the canoli's to the eclairs to the cream puffs, Mike's is the perfect pastry shop. They even have string hanging from the ceiling to tie the boxes with. And boy is this place popular. One time the line was out the door. But it's worth it for the wonderful assortment of amazing pastries, and the total atmosphere of the place.
Favorite Dish:
Pastries, pastries and more pastries.
SUPURB PASTRIES. Huge crowds wait for a turn to order pastries here. It somehow reminded me of the "soup nazi" episode of Seinfeld (although the folks at Mikes were very nice).
Favorite Dish:
Its all good.
