Downtown Crossing, Boston
There are a bunch of stores in the Downtown Crossing area. H&M, Macy's, DSW, Filene's, Strawberry's, Marshalls and last but certainly not least, the world famous Filene's Basement. If you wanna spend some money, here's one spot to do it. Warning to visitors. This part of town gets a little on the seedy/dangerous side later at night. Watch yourself!
Downtown Crossing is loaded with plenty of places to shop. From Macys to TJ Max, H&M to little booths selling Boston memorabilia, purses, belts and other items.
It is centrally located in the heart of downtown, just minutes from Faniuel Hall and other areas of interest.
You will also find a large Borders bookstore and plenty of fast food places to eat.
What to buy: Stop by one of the many carts and pick up a piece of Boston. Choose from t-shirts, mugs, magnets or caps.
Lambert's is an old fashioned fruit, vegetable and flower stand within spitting distance of Filene's, (not that I would spit on the streets of Boston. Oh noooooooo.) So what's this have to do with shopping you might ask. Well, if you're going to spend an entire day in Downtown Crossing, who wants to stop for a snack. You can stock up on healthy fresh fruit for snacking and never break your stride. That's what I did. I also bought fresh flowers for my hotel room and fruit to have as breakfast in my room during my stay. The shop is full of yummies (avocados, berries, melons, etc.), very busy but the clerks are attentive and polite. I loved this place. Reminded me of downtown Miami but sadly no cafe' con leche'
What to buy: The fruit is fresh. Pick whatever looks, smells good! Don't forget the flowers!
What to pay: Prices are lower than those you'll find in grocery markets. I found them lower than produce prices in the south. What's up with that?
Aiiiiight.... Ziggy refers to this place as the 'ghetto store' (but thats only cause I went buck wild in this place) and yes Ziggy I am still going to buy that orange track suit whether you like it or not!
This place has clothes for the loud and boisterous (hmmm...I wonder WHY I like it so much lol). The clothes are trendy in crazy colours. It also has a good plus size department and a decent shoe department. Its a pretty big store and stuff is everywhere you look. Give yourself a tonne of time to look through everything, you will want to since the prices are soooo low.
What to buy: Trendy Club Gear and Shoes
What to pay: Less then average
If you're looking for girl clothing, you might find some nice shops in the Downtown Crossing area.
The shops I liked the most were Rainbow and Tello's shops, on Winter and Washington Streets. They have some cool fashion at very affordable prices, and good sales & promotions too. I liked the lingerie they have there, it's not expensive and very cute. They also had nice accesories: gloves & scarves (winter time), hats, etc.
There are some of these shops in other locations too! But they're very close to each other in the Downtown crossing area so you can take the opportunity to see all of them in a very short time span! Enjoy choosing and trying on your stuff! Happy shopping!
What to buy: All kinds of clothes: tops, jeans, skirts, sweaters, accesories, shoes, lingerie!!
There's a yearly event. It's the Filene's Basement wedding dress sale. They sell off tons of wedding dresses at REALLY REALLY cheap prices. It's usually a free for all; with women grabbing and fighting for the best dresses! I went there and found it very quiet, and peaceful! And I found a wedding dress at a wicked cheap price as they would say in Boston!
