Way back in 7th grade I travelled Boston's Freedom Trail. A painted red line winding through the city will take you to many historical buildings and sites in Boston that played a significant role in the events that took place during the American Revolution. You can travel the trail on your own, or sign up for a tour guide.

  • Boston is bursting with American history. You cannot walk a mile without hitting a historical sight. The Freedom Trail is a lot of fun and very interesting. A red line painted down the streets of Boston is easy to follow and brings you to sight after sight of historical events. If you are in Boston and weather permits, I'd highly suggest taking the free tour. Without the events featured on this tour, the Country never would have been formed.

Freedom Trail: Old Granary Burying Ground
  • Tip Rating:
  • Adjacent to the Park Street Church and part of the Freedom Trail, the Old Granary Burying Ground is the final resting place of a number of local heroes, including Paul Revere (see above), Samuel Adams, John Hancock as well as Benjamin Franklin's parents. There's some wonderful old headstones, as well as any number of squirrels.

Freedom Trail: Downtown & old State House
  • Tip Rating:
  • The downtown is very nice, clean and pleasant. The building of the old State House is small, but spectacularly decorated.

  • There's a red brick strip in the sidewalks that will take you around to the historic sites in the city center. Get one of the "Where Boston" guides that comes in hotels and tourist kiosks and that will tell you about the things you will see along your walk. It's a good introduction and orientation to Boston. The downtown is more compact than it looks on the maps.

    Freedom Trail: Old State House
  • Tip Rating:
  • Commence your walk of the Freedom Trail from OLD STATE HOUSE (1713) - Boston's oldest public structure. Rebuilt in 1713 due to a fire in 1711, it was the meeting place of colonial & state government for half a century. Today, it's the headquarters of the Bostonian Society. The Declaration of Independence was read from this building's balcony on July 18, 1776. It's the first public reading in Massachusetts. This building also served as State Capitol until 1798. The Freedom Trail is a 3 mile red-painted path which connects Boston's historic sights from Boston Common to Bunker Hill Monument. Some of the sights on this path are: 1. King's Chapel. 2. Faneuil Hall. 3. Paul Revere House. 4. Copp's Hill Burying Ground. 5. USS Constitution. 6. Boston Common. 7. Old North Church.

Freedom Trail: Walk along the Freedom...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Walk along the Freedom Trail Whale watching (could be boaring if the whlaes aren't in the mood to jump arround...) Walking through the Back Bay and Beacon Hill During these activities you'll see beautiful old Boston. In the Back Bay and the Beacon Hill you'll find many little shops and restaurants in the old Irish style. The best thing during whale watching is that you can see the skyline of Boston!!

  • Tip Rating:
  • Old State House Built in 1713 and is Boston's oldest public building. It served as the headquarters for the British government in Boston. The public could watch government in action when a gallery opened here in 1766. In 1776 the Declaration of Independence was read from the balcony.
