I'd say the Boston Marathon is a must-see only because I have admiration for people who'll do all this running. Honestly, I'm not sure why they do it. Living right off the route of it I see some runners who look pretty damned scary and some are even bloody by the time I see them. But hey, here's to them!
OH....and my neighborhood becomes a giant block party one day a year. You've GOT to love that!
The Boston Marathon is a must to see. I have never seen so many people running like that in my life. I was watching the Marathon from around the 23rd mile in Brookline. I had front row seats as they ran by my brothers apartment. It was neat to see the first set of people come over the hill. First you see a mass of police cars and the helicopter, then the leaders come flying through. I am tired after driving 23 miles, much less running it!
If you are there in April, go watch the Boston Marathon. Better yet, qualify for it and run it. I guarantee it will be one of the best races you ever run.
There are people lined up along almost the entire 26 mile route and running by Wellesly College (all women) is quite motivating :)
