Back Bay as seen from the Skywalk

I've been twice to the top of the "Pru". Getting to the observatory ("Skywalk") is very easy, there's no queuing at all. Just go down the escalators next to the Prudential Tower lobby, and then take the high-speed elevator to the 50th floor. The Skywalk admittance ticket cost $7.00 last time I was there. It's worthwhile. From there one can have a 360º perspective of the city from high above. The mall at the Prudential Center is also worth a stroll, although I found the stores there more expensive than other places in the city.

Back Bay from the Prudential Centre 28.5.05

The Skywalk on the 50th floor of the Prudential Centre was well worth visiting for the view of Boston. Initially I found the audio commentary very cheesy and I thought it a bit too jokey but after a short while I found myself ignoring the worst aspects. It was very useful if helping a complete stranger like myself to orientate myself and it was very useful in pointing out major landmarks that I would not have beeen able to identify myself.
Around the inside of the the 50th floor are historical facts about Boston and its people. I was fascinated to see the section on sports - not one of the sports that are important to Boston (and probably the USA) is important in the UK - in fact they are all minority sports in the UK!!!
Skywalk is open 10am to 10pm.

Prudential Building from Boylston St.

Great views of the city, of course, but also some excellent history and stories of interest to be heard through the audio tour (included in the ticket price.) Several very good displays about immigration in Boston, the neighborhoods, Boston's legendary sports teams, etc.

Sunset over Charles River (Fenway Park to left)

Going up late in the day gives you the opportunity to see the view during daylight, then to see the sunset, and then the city lights coming on all across Boston. Very beautiful, and it all happens in about a half-hour.

The Prudential Tower is the second-tallest skyscraper in Boston, it is about a big shopping center on the low levels with many boutiques, restaurents, ..etc, and a skywalk observatory on the top which is the highest observatory in New England that is open to the public, it is located on the 50th floor that gives the best 360 degree view of all Boston area with an audio explanation of interesting places and attaractions in the city.

The Pru,is a skyscraper in Boston, Massachusetts. The building, a part of the Prudential Center complex, currently stands as the 2nd-tallest building in Boston, behind the John Hancock Tower. The Prudential Tower was designed by Charles Luckman and Associates for Prudential Insurance. Completed in 1964, the building is 759 ft (229 m) tall, with 52 floors. It contains 1.2 million square feet (111,484 m²) of commercial and retail space. Including its radio mast, the tower stands as the tallest building in Boston and the 26th-tallest in the United States, rising to 907 feet (276 m) in height. A 50th floor observation deck, called the "Prudential Skywalk", is currently the highest observation deck in New England that is open to the public, as the higher observation deck of the John Hancock Tower has been closed (somewhat controversially) since the terror

We ate lunch at Top of the Hub this restaurant on the 52nd floor of the Prudential Center offered sweeping views of the Boston skyline. We enjoyed local dishes and seafood while watching panoramic views through the dining room's floor-to-ceiling windows.

Copley Square

We really enjoyed visiting the observatory and found it to be good value at about 12 dollars each. You travel up a high speed lift about 52 floors. The skywalk tour gives you great views of Boston. You get a handset and punch in the numbers listed on the windows to get the audio tour - there is an adult and a child version but I listened to both. There are various activities around the floor focusing on immigration and sport and lots ofi other city information. There is also a film show included in the price. It wasn't very busy when we visitied (February) so we had great unimpeded views - it was so quiet that the receptionist was knitting.
